Evening all

Thanks to Peter for suggesting this GB.

So as the Spitfire XIV is making good progress, I'm going to start this at club night on Tuesday...after all trying to airbrush my Spit at club night is perhaps a step too far!!

In terms of this particular vehicle, all the 1/72 kits are resin as far as I can see, although there are some plastic kits in the larger scales. I also think the is perhaps the best quality one of the 1/72 resin versions, at least based on the very limited reviews. It certainly looks very good and even the long thin parts are like the barrels are not warped. You can read a review here (once you've translated it): www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=12544.

You may also have seen that when I got this kit, it was missing the PE and decals. Whilst I'm not a massive PE fan, for this kit it is pretty essential and so I emailed Hauler (link), who within 6 days had the PE in my hands without asking any money for it, even though I offered. Given that I knew it was missing when I bought it, I would not have complained if they'd asked for it. All credit to them!! The missing decals are not an issue, as I have some of my own I can use.

Finally and most importantly, I am also doing this in memory of our former club member Roger.

This is from his stash that his family and club are clearing out. As I said before, I think he was in his late 60s/early 70s but in very good form for his age - and with a dry sense of humour (at least to my mind), which is one reason I liked him! He was easy to talk to and very interesting, with a great wealth of knowledge that he was more than happy to share - without being the proverbial rivet counter! He also chose a wide range of subjects as demonstrated by the range of kits in what was left of his stash. Then just before Christmas 2022, he very sadly dropped dead from a massive stroke, having been in his usual good form when I saw him only a week or two before. He is greatly missed at our club and indeed the other club he attended - and of course by his family and friends.

RIP Roger.

That is a fantastic gesture to a late buddy. I have only built one 1/72 nd scale kit (styrene though) but I remember being quite taken by the detail, I should think even more so in resin. Looks a very nice kit. Full credit to the makers re..the PE replacement.

Nice thought to remember your departed friend. Looks a nice kit. It will be interesting to see how you go on.
All credit to Hauler. Always right to celebrate good customer service.

Thanks chaps. It somehow seemed appropriate.

John - The detail on this kit is pretty good. Although to be honest, given modern technology, if someone decided to do even a half decent styrene kit, it would knock this out of the park. The best 1/72 kits these days are stunning. Look up company called Vespid and have a look at their Comets and you will see what I mean.

Thanks again chaps!

Andrew,
Did as you said and looked at a couple of reviews (with sprue shots). You are dead right mate detail on those looks Brilliant, although a little too small for my comfort zone. Nice additions with the PE and metal gun barrel as well. Very impressive little kits 👏.

John,
I will follow along and there is nothing there for a man of your skills to worry about.

A belated thanks chaps....unfortunately though no more progress as I'm concentrating on getting my Spit across the finish line.
