Hopefully, this will be my next project.

I will use a tank, a bridge, a bit of river and a good sized weir....Plus anything else that comes into the lump of dormant gristle that sits on my neck!

Here is the tank, which, instead of O.O.B. for once in my life I will 'Alter' it to suit my requirements for the time scale. So please can any rivet counters leave me to enjoy building the tank as I see fit? Thanks.

The rest of the dio. will come into fruition as and when, but will all be scratch built ala Blue Peter!

Due to personal circumstances, which I won't bore you with, the build might be a bit erratic and long winded, but I will try my best to keep up to speed......
Let the fun begin. I need a bridge!

Cheers all.

Keep you guessing, chaps? You know that's not my style. ;)

At this stage I haven't much of a clue either. I never plan stuff. I just make a start and hope for divine inspiration.

I've finally made a start.
I designed and built a bridge out of cheapo foam board. Now I've completed it, I've come to the conclusion it's too arty farty and at 1/35 way too big. The finished dio. would have to be something like 18" square, so......

I've scrapped it and am going for 1/72 which will give me a base of around 10". Much more manageable!

I write "scrapped" by which I mean I've made it a flat pack. This means it won't get damaged if left as one piece. i can then stick it back together as and when......

I've written the following before on here. Never be afraid to alter your dioramas, no matter how drastic. If it don't look right, it ain't!

Cheers.
Ron

Thanks Jim. It's good to be back and building again....Keeps my mind occupied on nice things!

Yes, I was pleased with the bridge, but to continue with the larger scale would have meant far too much work on the surroundings , so down scale it has to be.

I'm still feeling my way around the new site and as yet I can't figure out how to show full sized images, so sorry about the 'Thumbnail' ones!

Cheers.

Hi Ron. Thats looking great and as Jim and Steve have said its good to see you posting again. Regarding the images. When you want to upload an image click on the "Upload Attachments" button. Dont click on the camera or paper clip icon. Find the photo and click on it to upload. It will place photo onto the thread as a thumbnail at first but you will be given an option to upload it as small, medium or large photo. Click on the option you want, I use medium, and it will put the larger photo into the post. I upload directly from a digital camera so I cant comment on the other methods of uploading.

Thanks to Steven and Steve!

Steve. Thank you for taking the time to help me with my down loading photo question. Much appreciated. I'm on it!

Here's the 1/72 Russian tank I'm now using. I'm not bothered if its not deployed in the Ukraine. It's near enough for purpose.

Not a bad kit, but very over priced for so few parts and as can be seen on the sprues, the tracks and half the wheels are in one piece!

Still, it will be modified......

Thanks again Steve....I read and learn quickly. I am from Barcelona!

Cheers.

'e's back! Good to see another Ron special on its way - even if it ain't the original one you started.

Lemme guess. When you say you're gonna "Alter" the kit, you're not talkin' of just a fancy paint job are you? An' I'm also guessin' you ain't gonna tell us anythin' of your plans 'til you're done?

Thanks to Paul and Dave for your nice posts. Nice to be back.

Paul. "Spanner magic?" I've already hurled the spanner at it once and I've barely started the build!

Dave. Sorry I can't let you know just where this is going 'cos I don't have much idea myself - as usual.....

Ian and Steve.
Good to have you along in this ride to gawd knows where........

The Mk.II. idea.
A busted bridge.

I'm now keeping the bridge a simple, smaller, one arch affair, all suitable bent.
After making the thing, I cut out the middle section. Making the bridge whole then wrecking it, ensures I have the right amount of rubble. I then added re. bars and suspended a bit of hanging on road surface to the left side of the bridge.
The right side has taken the brunt of an explosion and has sheered off leaving precious little left of the bridge arch.

Early days yet, but the basics are laid down and ideas are a'flowing!
Painting in some bridge detail to follow, then I'll make a start on the water and the general layout.

Cheers.

Looking good Ron. Single arch is much more manageable.
Clever to make a bridge, knock it off the bench and accidently stand on it, swear and then try to convince us all that it was intended to be a wrecked bridge all along. Clever but sneaky :) :p :)
