HI ALL well ive been sent this phantom kit by a very kind richard 48 to get my mojo back as not got a kit i want to do at the moment an hopein to try an light it up with 2mm leds but on closer inspection lookin at the wings its seems the makers have made the wings ends solid about 1mm thick an not in two bit so i can run my nav lights wires through so i may have a go at doin it but goin to be tricky as when burrin out the wing i dont want to go right through it so see how this goes but cant start on it proper yet as waiting for spray paint to come from my local model shop but for now some picceys

The Phantom is one of those aircraft that just looks right. It will be nice to see what you can do with this.

Hope you enjoy making her Chris. The martian war machine sounds great.I saw War of the Worlds performed at the 02 with Jeff wayne and it was excellent.Music and lighting was amazing.Ive seen few different kits of them at shows including 3D printed alien creature and machines.
Glad i helped get your model mojo back a bit.
All the best from Richard

Looking good Chris,
would it be possible to 'scribe' a wide groove into the bottomside of the solid wing? Then perhaps use that type of wire used in transformers to power an smd Led light and fill up the groove? Looking forward to your build, have fun!

HI Steven hope you are well an yes all what you have said im goin to try an do but not scribe the wings will have to be burred out to take the led s wire thickness an they are very thin as ive been havin a good think on this as a boaty mate has sent me a letter this morn to say he thinks its possible to fit a 1mm thick firber optic in the wing but as i treid to exsplain to him when he poped over to see me that the F/O is as thick as the wing itself so no go but he still sent the F/O But if im patient i think i can fit the leds in my way just got to be carefull so Steven many thanks for your info an reply very much appreciated

HI ALL an steven000 well i gave this quite a bit of thought an what you sir suggetted about scribein a grove worked well thank you sir as dint need to do this on my big kits an after scribein i fitted a small burrin bit in my small dremel an gently burred out a grove big enough to take the 2mm wires an led was a bit fiddley but i managged it now some piccys IMG_0660.jpg

an here fittin the tiny 2mm led in its wingtip place an this was quite fiddley to do an its here still gluein so looks a bit out of place till i used my finger tip to push in into place now to run the wires down the wing an glue in place so it looks like it is goin to be possible to light up this small plane IMG_0662.jpg
