Hi Richard, how is the FG1 coming along? I'm still pottering along with my Phantom but progress is a bit slow - always slow down a bit in the summer when other fair weather activities keeps me away from the bench. Hi Gary.
Funny you mentioned the FG1.I did some filling and sanding first thing and made a start on rescribing some of the panels that got sanded.Fujimi moulded the engraving so fine its a job to follow them.Ive now got the rails thanks to Neil so i can arm the beast.Think i need a scribing template so i dont slip with scriber and ruin my work.I saw the kit you mentioned at Telford SMW last November.Its was on tbe Bachmann stand and the moulding is by Academy i believe.I might get a couple because they are going to do 72nd and 48th.Raf F4Js are really interesting to me.

Hi Richard, so its not a new model just a reissue of an Academy kit with maybe new decals? Never the less it looks quite nice in the photos. Yes rescribing panel lines is a bit of a pain. I've been using that self adhesive tape from Dspiae to help as a guide when rescribing. Its a bit like the tape you use in Dyno label printers except its semi transparant and has mm markers on it. Works rather well for me.

Thanks for heads up with the Dspiae tape.Might have to get that,Sounds good.I think the kits are new tooling but made by Academy.I reckon they would be pretty good,The 48th Academy Phantoms are good and have the weapons.Ive got an F4D by the in Republic of Korea markings.I fancied doing a U.S airforce reserve one in grey.
