Hi to all
I've been working on making 3D printed resin models that are easy to build and easy to paint. I design them myself using CAD (shapr 3D). The one big advantage of 3D printing, and one I believe has not been realised yet, is the ability to produce paint masks and stencils that fit perfectly over even complex 3D surfaces. Once in place they allow intricate designs to be painted without the need for a steady hand or complicated masking using masking tape. For example i've shown the paint mask (in red) used on the yellow 'Fat man" atomic bomb model that allows the banding around the middle and nose to be painted black. Also been trying to make my own decals using waterslide paper and also a Cricut vinyl cutter. I've included a few photos of the models i've produced and the colour schemes. They are only available as .STL downloads at the moment but i'm hoping to eventually produce the finished models and also the raw components for people without 3D printers to build and paint themselves. I'd appreciate any feedback more experienced modellers on here could give 'warts and all'! Many thanks Tony
