Hi,thanks for replying, the pre-formed links are very small. Dry brushing is an idea though but my eyesight is brilliant lol. I have a big magnifying glass with surrounding light to help me. Appreciate your ideas though, cheersHi and welcome mate, your story is pretty much the same for most of us here, eg: used to build kits, life / work got in the way so we stopped, then we retired and started up again, Lol.
Enjoy the forums buddy, lots of good info and helpful peeps on here.
Can't offer any expert help with the ship I'm afraid, not really my thing.
But do you mean the anchor chain is pre formed on the ships hull? if so, you could try masking around it, or maybe try dry brushing it, or using a very fine, very small brush with steady hands just painting it offhand, etc to avoid getting paint on surrounding area's?
I'm sure someone will be along with better advice soon....
Cheers
Thanks very much for replying, cheersWelcome to the party
There's a few on here that do floaty boaty things...., one is bound to be along soon with an answer
Ok thanks very much for the info,i will look into it,very much appreciated, thanks again.Makeup foam is firm enough so a very light touch with almost no paint on it will work wonders picking out the highlights. You would need to get it from a user though, as to buy it, I've only seen it in bulk.
Thank you ,looking forward for a lot of help in the future.Hi and welcome to the forum.
ThanksWelcome aboard Paul

Hi boatman, thanks for your reply. I thought my 1/350 scale looked big but 1/200 is massive, where do you find the room to showcase it lol. I will keep a lookout on other posts but the chain links are really small and i don't want to fill in the holes in the chain but it might be something i cann't get round. Other members have been great to me and my problem so thanks to you and all. If i mess it up would i be able to use paint thinner with maybe a cotton bud and remove the paint and re-try,i don't want to mess up the deck paint? Thanks again for your infoHI from me the Boatman got called that as i build ships so welcome an yes you have herd from the guys so yes try dry brushin on the chaines as im near the end of my big 1/200 scale USS HORNET for the DOLITTLE RAID ON JAPAN but in my kit i got proper chains to fit on the ankors an i'll help if i can but 1/350th is a bit too small for me but there is p/m an bob an several others who have built this ship in this scale so plenty of help on here

Ok thanks very muchThe make up foam is a good idea, forgot I had some of those, see pic, think you can pick them up via amazon, temu, or your local Boots, Pound Land, Home Bargains, etc etc for just few quid and they will last years. They come in all shapes and sizes... Just pull/cut bits off, dab a bit of paint on and away you go (obviously remove most of the paint first if dry brushing) they give a good stippled look too if required....
