I know hte wood would last if it was the same wood as the ship, but it would expand and contract with temperature and humidity. Wouldn't that split the gold leaf?The same wood as the ship is made of? It lasts decades![]()
I'm sure it would, then again the ship had a refit schedule where it was re applied. also over the years the decoration was reduced as budgets was tighter. when it was re- named royal sovereign half of the decoration was removed.Wouldn't that split the gold leaf?
