Looking forward to the chipping on the Fergie. They were a favourite of the crofters. We saw lots of them when we lived on the Hebrides. In all sorts of condition from pristine to used and abused, all still doing the job they were built for.

Hi all, had a good afternoon preparing the groundwork on the base. The brick wall is up and pinned as the filler dries. Sorted through numerous boxes and came up with a roof structure.
Always add some PVA to the plaster filler, then apply it to the base.
The wall is sitting on a layer of filler, pinned from the back and front side, hence the yellow pin head.
Then some sand was scattered over the whole base, turning the base on its side to remove any loose. Left it for 30 mins then using various wheels marked the ground, including the Fergie.
Since then I've been finding timbers and some poles for the roof and supports.

I had to look up Paverpol to see that it is a hardener. That base is looking superb John, and the process is interesting. What does the addition of PVA do to the filler mix?
Hi Jim, it's a harder , normally used on fabrics to stiffen them , but also used on foam board to harden. It's a water-based polymer fluid for the technical !

That's interesting John. I have some sealer/hardener for balsa wood. Works beautifully. Trouble is it attacks foam board
