Hi guys, I have not been on much at all, modelling is spasmodic but I am still doing some stuff.

I just wanted to inform you that I have, what looks like, the beginning of COPD (just found out today after some tests, back next week for some more as they found a obstruction), I am a smoker, although I always intended to try and stop this New Year and have cut right back, I also worked in the refractory business doing industrial castings for the glass industry, a lot of fine dusts. Also, and this is more relevant to us, paints and the chemicals used can and do cause issues, so please use a face mask and preferably a full mouth and nose separate filter type and change the filter regularly.

I never knew the risks of rattle cans and the odd spray here and there, even using small amounts of enamels etc, so just take care guys.

Si:)

Sorry to hear your news. But, a very timely reminder. I do use a good mask - but when did I last change the filters ??

Sorry to hear that. My wife has COPD. She gave up smoking about 40 a day few years ago, and her lungs are slowly getting better, but she'll never get full lung function back.
I gave up smoking about 12 years ago and can't believe how much money I've saved, so good luck Si, and think of all the kits you'll be able to buy instead of giving your money to the Government!
I used nicotine patches on the advice of my local pharmacist, but after a couple of weeks had an allergic reaction to them but I was over the worst by then.

Thanks guys, it is hard, I have stopped and started a few times hopefully, I will do it this time.

I have just changed the filter on my face mask and also in the spray booth, not changed the filter for over a year! Totally forgot all about it.

Si, I tried unsuccessfully to quit fags for 10 years. 5 years ago I started vaping and haven't touched a cig since. True, I'm still a nicotine addict, but at least it's only nic and not all the other crap that are in fags. Give it a go. :)

I've been a nicotine addict most of my life and every time I tried to quit I failed miserably, but this was only due to the fact that I actually didn't want to quit.
One day I wanted to quit and I had a very good reason to as well and you know what? It was much easier when I wanted to!!!

Being diagnosed with COPD could be a real motivator and a spur to not start again, and I wish you the very best Si - both in quitting smoking AND in getting better!!!
