Do modelers have a discernable style

I have a question here, and it is this wouldn't a modellers style change slightly anyway depending on the kit they are working on for example take weathering... iam building the uss enterprise kit and I wouldn't dream of weathering it the same way as I would one of my AFVs or a surface vessel etc. so how would this work to ensure no ones changed their style or approach? Sorry folks just a thought.

The whole point of my first post was to suggest that we all

Have a style and obviously you would do a nice shiney car differently to an armoured vehicle but every car of armoured vehicle would still be in your style, in this experiment you should only be building whatever you usually build, I know some of us are very eclectic builders and some build strictly planes or armour all Im saying is if you normally only build planes then you shouldn't suddenly build a car, but if you build alsorts then that's fine, just do what you normally do.

I love the idea Ken. Is great :)

I don't exactly what......but I will join in :) :)   :)

It's necessary to post the updates....or we can only post the finished build....? Personally I prefer the last option  :$

I don't know about styles or themes but I build models to the kits specs but I also like others work which inspires me, I  like to add my own flair on the subject so it's defo my work if that makes sense. I rarely build OOB any more but that's just me and my Picasso sort of theme

Robert

( Ps I look at all of your stuff on here and one day I'll try my best to be as good as you all ) but not yet eh

Personally I like the idea of updates (only pics though as the way we write could give away who it is) but I suppose you could post a pic of your intended model then just a few pics of the finished article.

So now that I am anonymouse; what next? I mean does I now post pictpgraphs in the appropriate cartagorry for the type o model or are we all posting in the same locale o thread? Thanks Ken for the grate idea!

So is Bertrand a nom de guerre or did you use your real name in the profile ? :)

I have to confess to being confused. I understand to do this you are supposed to sign in anonymously, or rather as 'Ken's Modellers Style', but where does the picture get posted?

Cheers

Steve (yes, it's still me!)

Well I'm gonna have to pick another one as I didn't log in as kens' modelers style so you would all know I was building the VW,  what a twit I am.

I did not see the Bertrand before, it came with my profile. I wonder if we're all Bertrand or if we each have a different nom de what you said.

I would like to say one thing. once
If this bogus profile gets used for ANY other form of post other than the intended purpose it WILL be closed. Apart from the rather doubtful idea of having an anonymous profile with the pass word and profile name free for anyone to use or abuse, I actually have doubts as to the legality of such... (In Denmark it is in fact illegal....!)

Ian this reply seems to contradict your initial response to the creation of the anonymous account

"First of Thank you for saving my mail box from exploding! Good idea."

but if you now feel the potential for misuse outweighs the positives, just close the account. Personally I very much doubt anyone has or is considering doing anything like that, but perhaps I simply see the good in people, rather than the bad?

It is a thing that has niggled me since it was opened. When I saw that some one had logged on with the bogus account and "liked" a post and later again to post a comment on another build, alarm bells started ringing. It is not so much that there is this account. I can not imagine that any members would mis-use it. The real problem is that the account name and password are right there on a page all can see. Also non members. It kind of opens the door to "undesirrable" comments, content and spam.

I guess the relief of not getting 20 gb of photos in my mail ever other day turned off the warning lights.

For now I will stand by my previous comment. Any misuse and it is gone

That's fair enough Ian, but a simple explanation regarding the activity on the account could be just human error. Someone might have logged in to see if it works, then perhaps forgotten to log out. They then proceeded to act as though they were using their usual Scale Models account. Once they'd interacted & seen their mistake, they simply kept quiet about the error.

I agree that there is a chance of someone unwittingly doing this, but deliberate misuse I think is unlikely bearing in mind the quality of our members.

However thus far, no-one has used the account for its designed purpose so perhaps it never will be. Upon reflection, I think it would be hard for a number of us to build a model in secret in order to post it for others to guess the builders identity. We're a garrulous lot by nature & sharing is part & parcel of what we do on here.

So I'd say the time has come to either close said anonymous account or render it useless by changing the password to an easily forgotten random one?

Nice idea in principle Ken, but I fear it's going to cause Ian more trouble than it's worth.

I say pull the plug on it right now, just in case anything undesirable occurs.

....and no, I haven't messaged anyone, these are my own thoughts on this.

Well if it's going to be shut down I would rather it be now before people have invested time and effort posting builds (I won't be for a while as my hands are pretty full at the moment with non modelling stuff), I can see Ian's point in that someone off the forum could log on and cause mischief  (I can't in all honesty see anyone on here doing it but guests could) I only know if after lots of people had invested time and effort posting pics and after a few months some guest caused it to be shut down there would be a lot of unhappy members.

Oooops I think it's me! I just saw that my positive comment about the 1/6 scale bus in civilian vehicles was attributed to the anonymous Ken's Modellers etc.

I assure that was just an error; I never sign out on my cell phone. I had signed in anonymously to pose the question above, namely, where do we post the anonymous photos, here in this thread or in the appropriate subject matter thread or where else? I do have a project in mind,

I'm really sorry to have caused any consternation.
