Try Kibri or any of the German model railway kit makers. Dapol have an old JCB type in their range.
Isn't that the old - very old - one that Airfix originally did on a low loader railway wagon? And have you seen the prices those are fetching nowadays? I'm sure I saw one on ebay a week or so back for £27!
Edit: I just remembered that our Ron did a smashing little JCB a couple of years ago. I'm sure it was the Dapol kit he used and there's no way he'd pay such silly prices! Maybe he knows something we don't?
We've been here before Rob, moaning about the lack of construction equipment kits. There are some around, but they're few and far between, fetch really silly prices sometimes and there don't appear to be any ranges of kits available in a consistent scale.
Mind you, as Rick says, Kibri do make loads of stuff so maybe they have some. It's not anything I'd use though as it's all 1/87 scale as far as I know - much too small for me.

Yeah! I got one some months ago and it looks to be a smashing little kit. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find any other construction equipment kits in 1/35 scale.
There are some military bulldozer kits in 1/35 available from Mirror Models and Miniart, and Meng's big D9R. I daresay there are/were civilian versions of some of these.
LZ Models also makes a resin scraper trailer to be towed by a bulldozer.
Some of the military trucks also had civilian versions I imagine, and Mirror Models' wrecker and dump truck could be useful.
There are also workshop tool sets and workman-type figure sets available in 1/35. They are military, but many of the figures are stripped to the waist or have generic type overalls so could be posed as civilians.
As for any sort of JCB type digger in 1/35 to go with them, I have no idea if any have ever been made (apart from the one Polux mentioned which is limited to mainly modern Japan).
I remember a company - probably AMT or ERTL - making a bulldozer and a John Deere backhoe in 1/24 or 1/25, but again, apart from trucks, there's nothing to go with them in the same scale. And even they are rare as hen's teeth nowadays.
I have a vague memory of seeing a scraper type machine used for airfield construction and an old Bucyrus type steam shovel/crane, but I've no idea of scale or even if they were kits or some scratch built models.
If you're really desperate, there are LOADS of diecast metal models available in 1/50 scale and some of them are quite spectacular.

Oxford Die Cast are another maker but their construction models don't have a very big range.
I've been hunting around for a reasonably priced 1/35 construction model for years with no luck. So some good leads there, thanks.

I know that humbrol did some kits called bobcat kits aimed at the younger ones and they had some construction kits in the range

Can I ask is it 1/72 Ron? I seem to remember the early Airfix armour kits were 1/76 and their train stuff was OO/HO which I think is a mixture of 1/72 and 1/87.

Some memory you have there, old lad! Quite correct, I flogged it on eebeegeebeebay, and I was in correspondence with the lady buyer. I aint writing what she payed for it, but it was silly money. I suspect she thought it was a big model! She bought it for her farmer husband's birthday - I would love to have been a fly on the wall when he opened his present. I would have loved to have been the same fly when he found out how much the sweet lady payed for it too...

Try searching Bruder or Siku on ebay rob , they do very realistic die casts in 1/32 of jcbs etc , with a bit of extra detailing/ painting they would ve perfect for a construction dio , hth tony

There is quite a wide range of const. type models in 1/87 from a bunch of makers from 40s to today. PaulE

I've seen this on ebay for really silly prices. I seem to recall seeing a John Deere Backhoe in the same scale, also by AMT/ERTL - also for really silly prices.. There have been some releases of construction equipment in 1/35 in the last couple of years. Lots of tractors/bulldozers and tipper trucks, but I find it amazing that there isn't any sort of JCB type digger (apart from the Japanese double-arm Atego), dumper truck or mobile crane available. They have enough moving features to satisfy and the Gods know they've been in use worldwide for decades so no shortage of subjects or dio opportunities.
I fear I'm preaching to the converted on here though. Any manufacturers listening out there?
