Hi all,
So finished this build fairly quickly for my standards and I think its testament for what a nice little kit it is. There were a few minor issues mainly the tail to fuselage join (which in hindsight seems like it could be much more straightforward) but all in all a really enjoyable build. One thing I did do that's worth pointing out is swapping the target crosshair from just in front of the screen to a PE part off an old Eduard German gun sight, this gives for better scale. Some of the lights which I hope you will see on the tips of the wings were just the clear parts and before adding them on i touched them with red and green sharpies. This is the first time I have tried this effect and worked really well.
Thanks for looking.
Phil

Nice job Phil, i do like Hasegawa kits they usually go together well.

Steve.

Hi Phil, that's a very good looking P-40 you got yourself built there mate!

Hi Phil
One to be proud of. I like the subtle weathering. The use of the Sharpie to tint the clear parts is a tip I will remember :thumb2:
Jim

What a great finish Phil, what do you use for the aerial wires? I recently got hold of some EZLine which has worked ok so far.

Superb result Phil, the weathering is very nicely done.:upside::thumb2:

Thanks for the tip on the Sharpie’s.

Hi Mick, can never seem to find ezline for sale so I use thin copper or on this occasion steel wire. I then colour with brown and black sharpies to give some weathering/colour.

I have two thicknesses now, I found it really good on my Albatross build to thread through the tiny metal loops I made. The reels I have weren’t cheap but will last my modelling career

You uk base mick? If so where did you get it from?

I like this a lot. I think I need one of these.......

The subtle finishes just blew me away. Amazing. You just gave us a glimpse of the office, but it looked very well done. I use winding wire from SWMBOs old hair dryer motors & transparent nylon thread depending on mounting point.
