Just a tease, the snow has started !

IMG_4386.JPGIMG_4388.JPG
Some weathering done, a little snow wash , now waiting to dry then the storm is forecast for later, windy with temps falling to - 30.
John.

With that temperature I thought it was based in Chicago not Russia! :smiling3:

So glad you dirtied up the white wash on the SU. You have a lot of contrasting whites in the whole diorama which adds interest. Look forward to seeing the snow. Remember no yellow snow or snowmen.:smiling2:

Terrific work mate. Well done:thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::cool:

Hi John
Fancy Steve saying 'no snowmen'. What a killjoy.
Going the right way for sure.
Jim

That’s smashing John, the Su look right at home in it parking space :smiling4:

The Germans are going to get shock when ambushed...sort of the reverse of my Achtung Achtung dio where the Germans were laying the ambush at Caen.

Feeling the stiff cold breeze even in the tropics here...nice tease John. :thumb2:

Cheers,
Richard

Well executed John, The little bugger blends right in. Nasty surprise for the unaware...

Could well be . poor b*s . No snow men or yellow streaks, you'd have laughed if I had done. Just a thin wash coat on the uniforms and the SU, on that I did two colours to give some contrast .Glad you approve .:smiling:Thanks .

I know Jim, we can't take him anywhere these days. Hope you approve when you see the photos.

...CAN'T WAIT.... :smiling6::smiling:
Not long my friend.:tongue-out3:

Yes they did , crept into the town only to be met with some serious fire power. Are you warm enough, if so please send some here Richard. :thumb2:

Rick H.
Hi Rick , thanks buddy.
John.

Ok no more waiting. :smiling:

Right this is the front of the building before the snow.IMG_4382.JPG
The runs on the SU are some snow wash, soon to be covered .

The first thing was to clear the decks, and get some clean paper down.
IMG_4395.JPG
I decided to go with the hair spray, using that instead of the spray adhesive in the kit you can build up the depth quicker.
Sieve at the ready , along with the Snow Powder.

Below is the first position, lifting the diorama up and resting it on a tape dispenser gave the angle for snow being driven in from the left.

I wanted to catch the left hand corner , the outer edge of the door and windows.

_MG_4407.JPG

_MG_4404.jpgF4.jpg
Below you can see the inner hinge side of the door has no snow , and its built up in the panel edge with the door style
The front of the SU now has that wind blown in look .

The back , in fact for the display it will be facing this way._MG_4408.JPG

I cleaned off some of the snow from the shell cases that had just been fired, gave to crew a light sprinkling, remember they are shelted from the prevailing wind.

Thanks for following this, been great fun having support along the way, keeps me going . What with fire , snow etc bricks and debris its certainly kept me busy.

Comments abuse, either please. :smiling::cool:

John.

FANTASTIC.... the snow is superbly done...the snow on the door... is soooo real...only one word... WONDERFUL

Stunning dio mate :thumb2: Its a shame it has come to an end. A brilliant first attempt at the snowy look. You must be pleased with the way it has turned out. Time to go and enjoy a cold long pint:cool:

So what's next then mate? Other than a well earned rest :smiling5::sad:

Really enjoyed following this John. Anything in the stash for a follow up project?
Cheers, Rick

Superb John, absolutely superb :smiling4:
The contrast between the snowy side and the the sheltered side is brilliant. You ought to be very happy with the results :thumb2:

Hi John
Snow looks very realistic. I thought you would like the Precision Ice and Snow stuff.

Steve thank you . No doubt I can improve on the snow, the main problem was I didn't dare turn it over as your advised too to remove the surplus snow because I wasn't sure what would fall off. ! :flushed:.

Glad you did Rick and pleased you enjoyed doing so.
Yes see below .:hugging-face:
John,
This is a cracking build mate the snow looks very good indeed.

Hi Paul and thank you .
Fantastic John. Cold, cold, cold!
Cold indeed Peter , how those people lived in those conditions is unbelievable.Thank you for your support .
Superb John, absolutely superb :smiling4:

Cheers Si, had that in mind that it needed to have a direction and it worked. ! :surprised:. Always pleased when something either fits or comes out how you imagined.

Thanks Jim ..... Yes it was great to work with. Glad I went the whole hog and got the kit as even with their sieve it certainly put the snow out quickly . That mesh was 700 mircons and not easily found in hardware shops, everything else you find would have been to big

Thank you for staying with this, one and all. Steve and Rick asked what else was planned, I thought I would continue with the winter theme. This time including ice , so you can probably see where this is going, tank , ice , too heavy , ice breaks , tank goes in ! Oh such fun and not a match to hand .:smiling2::smiling2:.
Already have the box open , hull started. Will post the start tomorrow.
John .

That's some blizzard heading one direction mate. Effects well done. :thumb2: I would be proud of it myself John if I had got it that way. As Steve said sadly good things come to an end and we look forward to new gooder things...ahem newer challenges. :smiling2: After the R&R what's next?

Cheers,
Richard

Very nice comments Richard, thank you .As for what's next I mentioned it at the bottom of the post. When I came on this morning that post had reduced itself, there was a message at the bottom of Steve's post click here to see more . Do you see that ?. Also some times I can post a thumbs up for a like, and a string of emojih appear, but not on everyone's postings . Could be the weather :smiling3: .
