Hi John
The second tank seems to have come together quickly and without problems - looks good. That's a good idea of Steve's to leave the idler loose to allow a bit of track adjustment. Good fix with the pin. Now you have made a new one the missing one will miraculously appear from the carpet monster's lair :smiling2:
Jim
Probably will Jim, spent several minutes searching the plastic wovern mat on the floor.
Found some quite interesting things, none edible by the way, but odd looking bits of plastic, including the front half of a machine gun barrel.
Can't find anything on the bench as you possibly can imagine .:tongue-out3:

Black glue, you can just make out some on the top group of upper rollers .

And for Simon, the other side with TET .

Just the upper roller.
John.

Great work John. You're really getting to grips with these difficult kits.

Going to stop this build for the moment. I have trouble gluing these type of tracks. As soon as you move then they fall apart so with this in mind I watched a video from VMS on gluing tracks. Their glue looked the dogs and Chris the owner showed how well it worked leaving tracks that could be removed for painting.
Now VMS produce a good product so I expect this to be no different.
Have ordered some from John at SMS,
so will continue the build then .
John .

Interesting to hear how you get on with the vms stuff. I’m off to have a look for the video:nerd:

Nice repair work JR. The tracks are always an issue for us AFV modellers. I hope the new glue and techniques work well for you

Si, sorry I should have done the link. I've always admired the way you do tracks, yours never seem to fall apart ! .

Thanks Steve, the repair seems ok in line up with the other wheels, but time will tell .
I'd like to be able to use plastic tracks with out major problems sometimes when the metal aren't available.
John .

Hi John
I have used a couple of the VMS products and been more than satisfied. I suppose you have ordered the slow setting cement.

Yes Jim, like you I've had stuff from them before and also found it good .Maybe it's exactly like the Revell Contacta, but worth a try .

(Hope you don’t mind me putting video up)

John,
The tape way isn’t fool proof....I still get them falling apart sometimes:tired:

I’ve found the design of the tracks and how they interconnect with one another is a key point in how well they will stay together.
The tracks on the miniart T-60 I did where some of the best I’ve dealt with, so laying them out on tape work really well.
Whereas when I did the little hetzer from academy they just kept coming apart on me:angry:

That VMS stuff looks worth a try....fingers crossed for you

Morning John

You may find this interesting - scratch building in 1:1

Blasts around in snow towards the end which gives some good reference of where the snow collects

Only 4 , but as only 2 crew per tank .

Filler to be applied when all dry .
Before doing that I started the base.
Into the attic again , returning with

This is after I'd cut that right hand end off . Spare section from the cave refurb.

Other makes and suppliers are available.

Depth checked.

Exterior wall filler ,grey in colour, a little water, a dash of thinned PVA and some acrylic artists colour added.
Stir well

Colour is perfect for the Kursk area.

Then left outside in this beautiful day to dry.
A few cracks appeared later where the thickest filler was, these will easily fill later when the soil is added on to a PAV coat .
Those tracks .

Well for me the glues ok, might leave it a bit longer before attempting to fit. Fell apart in the middle as I had to feed it under the track guards support .

But other than that minor niggle pleased ..More practice will help .

Dude 2,

You are kind of losing me here John....Why the pics out of Frankenstein's dungeon??? The poor guys didn't have a chance under the knife, but are looking good…..

And what does making icing for your cake have to do with model building??? You should really wash that spatula handle as it looks pretty dirty. And why is there a dent in your cake??? Did you have the oven set to the wrong temp again???

Have you been sniffing the Rhodendron's again??? I warned you about that Buddy!!!

Coat on, door found...……………..

Prost
Dude 1

I’m just glad he clarified that brown splodge is paint and not something scavenged from the garden! :surprised:

That reminds me - I must have a peanut butter sandwich for tea tonitie :smiling5: :smiling:

Great update JR. Looks like you have been very busy. Keep at it mate
