Start of the journey into paint, stupidly I forgot to take a picture of the first masking View attachment 382240
Second stage makes me think this is not going well, looks far too dark.

Last coat on but I am guessing when I strip of the masking it will not be very sharp as there are too many hard bits to mask properly, for me at least.

If the paint has bled too much to be tidied up it will either end up painted May Day Parade green, or consigned to the bin.

With much trepidation I pulled of the masking thinking the worst but it has turned out not too bad only the fact that the specified Nato Brown is a bit too dark but it will have to do. Needs a small touch up here and there and I forgot to paint one of the side covers but I have wheels and grids to paint so not a worry.

Andy,
looking good - masking on a tank is always a struggle, all the little bumps & humps can lead to really bad bleeds. I've tried filling in any holes with masking fluid, but touching up is just part of the routine. I've just been looking at the winter camo on my Pantsir, and trying to work out the best method. I think that blu-tac may be the way forward.........

Thanks guys, Dave, I used Blue Tac on the Grad rocket launcher and it worked out pretty well other than getting a sore hand with all that rolling out. ;)

Thanks Paul, I really must stop thinking the worst when building stuff as it usually comes out OK in the end, probably shouldn't have said that, might be tempting fate.

Very impressed with the camo Andy. Lot of time and effort has produced a cracking finish. Looking forward to seeing how all the filters and weathering bring it all together.

A beautiful job, both build and painting Andy. I think with weathering, the 'less is more' principal is best if you're not sure.

Thanks Peter, you may be right about less is more. I have an old model to try a bit of spattering on so will do that first to test my skill, or lack of it.
