2nd time returning to the hobby, ill health and work issues that made the ill health worse had me leave the last time, not pubs and girls like the first time.
New job, new home, almost a dedicated man-cave, well a shed, that needs insulated, heating and a permanent electrical supply finished has seen me make a start on what bits of the stash I kept.
Lost a box in the house move that had some shelf queens in it which is annoying in itself, but also my good airbrush, but a replacement has been sourced and some of the shelf queens made it. Though lately my attention seems to have shifted from 1/35 armour to 1/48 flight (And there is a 1/350 boat somewhere in the pipeline) I'm hoping I can learn stuff and chip in and be helpful at times and at a glance this forum seems to be the kind of place the last, now deceased, forum I hung out on was.
So, "Hello!"

Hello and welcome. You can't leave here. The forum has now got your soul!

Karl,
welcome to the forum - loads of modellers from beginners to experts........................
1/48 Flight? any particular era?
What's the Model Shop situation in County Antrim? Any, or none?

None handy, there's a shop in Belfast and another in Coleraine, both a decent drive away.
Currently on the bench is a Polikarpov I-16 and a MiG-21MF, so no specific era. Lost a Mossie night fighter and a bf109 in the house move. Managed to keep a Staghound that's almost completed, a Churchill AVRE and a figure dio.
I think I was meant to send you some disc camo templates a while back but couldn't find them at the time.

Hi Karl, welcome back mate.

I think modelling is a one of the more difficult hobbies to leave as you can just sit and take your time. I used to be a drummer, golfer and both had to be given up due to ill health but, modelling has always been there from being a youngster. My modelling has changed from dio making to RC boats etc some changing as I just could not manage them anymore but I still do stuff. It also helps when you have a place to do it.

Ah, yes disc camo - that was for a Stug IV build that got binned because I made a total hash of the Zimmerit! Couldn't get it to look anything like decent. It was causing my grief, so it's now landfill.................

Some builds are just destined to be filled with fireworks.......but in a safe and sensible manner of course.
