Percy here, though I should give an update on the Sea Foam.

The seed this year was collected from plants here at Race Towers from the year before. With such strange weather it seems well behind in its growth.

They have been growing away in the warm of the green house.

With the shade netting they unfortunately only get full sunlight in the morning, you can just see some pots on the stand on the left.

A lot slower growth than I had wanted, how ever outside a surprising thing.

In a tub in the garden with full sun a nice collection from self set seeds, no special treatment, rained on and baked dry at times the other month.
Quite pleased, but tall plants would have been better, think the time has come to buy some new fresh seed for next year.

Percy.

Yes indeed Pete, perhaps you read of my matching 4BO garden paint ?

Nice update mate. They have certainly come on well. Great to see
Thanks Steve, bit slow but will probably have a good few specimens.

Tales from the potting shred.
Hi all.

Commented on posts but not done any myself as not been modeling as such in 1.35 but in 1/1 in the garden for the last few weeks.

Removing a very large an old Clematis, sad to see it go , but the shed it had covered was in need of some serious load removal on its roof. That done and assembling as new arbour, painting etc has taken my time.

However some news on this year's crop of Sea Grass, after a somewhat slow start some nice plants have started to mature.

The ones I sowed from seed were left in small pots, and have therefore not grown to full size, but the ones that were self set from seeds in the compost have turned into some fine specimens.

A couple more weeks growth still left, and once they start to turn red the treatment can begin.

Thanks for looking in.

Percy Race.

So, when grown and harvested do you just use normal cement glue and what primer gives best results?

I be a joking of course...the primer depends on what colour you want the top coat to be.

And yes, I do know that you grow this to use in model trees etc...just been a silly so and so.

Nice crop there JR.

Thanks for the comments all, unfortunately Andy, Glycerine is not flammable in the sense that we know. It would have to be heated to a high temperature before is ignited.:crying:
Sounds like you’ve already tried?! Well, no surprise there!
Andy

Hi John,
Thought we’d not seen much of you around. Sounds like you’ve been enjoying the garden and rightfully so

When I was a nipper I remember my big brother pouring glycerine onto a small pile of potassium permanganate. The result was spontaneous ignition, with a very pretty purple flame. I keep meaning to try that again, but I haven't got any glycerine.

Thanks for that Pete :nerd::smiling3::smiling3::smiling2:. Interesting, I'd read it would self ignite when heated to a very high temperature. Off to look for some potassium permanganate.:tongue-out3:
