So a little more fiddling and now you can upload directly. Would be grateful for some volunteers to test this out for me or if you want you can post any offerings in here. Grateful for all contributions to the gallery and some fantastic examples to date.

I'm old fashioned and a bit leery, nothing would warm my heart and stroke my ego more than having my stuff out there for even more folks to see but
it sounds to my computer un-savvy ears that this could lead to being bombarded with spam and pop ups.....

I'll just respond by saying there is no spam or pop ups at all, in fact there is no advertising on the site at all other than a link to scalemodelshop and it will feature some brand logos. Nor is there a requirement to sign up etc to take part.

Guys I would be very cautious with this I have a uneasy feeling about this can’t believe the Mods are still letting this go on. And why do we want to compete with each other thought we did this for fun and help each other. Maybe I’m wrong. You guys worked to hard on your Subjects to jeopardizing them to be plastered all over the internet as spam and others steeling your hard work ideas for personal gain that’s why we pay to be on this forum I think to help keep us safe from this and pop ups and spam ads here think about
I have just been having a read through this thread and I feel I must comment on some of the posts being made.
Warren made a simple request that people that if people want to they can give permission for him to use your photos from the site or upload them directly to the site.
The need for people to actually take the time to write a post saying that their pictures can NOT be used is not required. If you dont say yes then they will not be used.
The way I see this is that Warren is trying very hard to give something back to the scale model community and there is, in general a very positive response from manufactures to take part.
If you have no interest in the idea them please be so kind as to just ignore it and find another post to read. There are plenty of them.

This is being done with the support of the forum, John in fact is one of the people putting up some prizes. There is no competition there is though cooperation.
As Warren has already said the General data protection rules have got that covered and all web sites use them. You can also refuse to accept them but it might effect how the site works for you.

Not sure where all this concern is coming from regarding images to be honest. If you post an image on the internet then anyone that is unscrupulous can copy it and post it on or use it how they want. That includes images posted on this site! Sure, some uses are illegal, but the onus is on you to bring the thief to account, as in any other sphere.

How can this therefore generate spam or unsolicited messages? Sure, he could sell on the details of those that have submitted them, but so could the owner of this site, or any other site you are affiliated to, including those you purchase cheap kits from such as EBay?
i am not personally interested in submitting to the site, but only because I’m not interested in the concept, nothing else, and certainly not because I question Warren’s personal integrity. I don’t think anyone is deliberately trying to insult Warren , but that is the effect of these continual queries.

After you posted this I sent you a PM, yet I see you have chosen not to respond, which of course is your right, however I will also respond here to your most recent comments above
I appreciate you are not a fan of what I am trying to do, you are entitled to your view, but if you have any questions then just go ahead and ask me directly instead of making assumptions.
The purpose of this request post for pictures was as a result of now including a show case gallery on the site for people to upload their completed builds like they do all over the internet. Having included the the feature I want it populated before launch with some nice examples and I thought of nowhere better to ask than in here. To suggest that it was for my gain in someway was pretty hurtful, its totally voluntary and your first reply suggested that I was just going to lift pictures willy nilly, which if you had read the post was just not the case. Secondly to finish this point I have no clue how you have established "competition" or "personal gain" out of simply asking the members here if they wanted to include some of their pictures in the gallery.
Finally I must take issue with your warning to people to be wary again with an unfounded reference to Spam, pops ups and selling information. Its clear you have not visited the site as if you had you would know that none of that is true, therefore I would be grateful if you did not make baseless assumptions and accusations.
The whole concept of this is that its something for the modelling community by the community, of course you don't have to like it and no one can force you to have anything to do with it, but I would appeal that maybe ask me for more detail before making assumptions, flinging unfounded accusations about or asking why its being tolerated.
I will be happy to answer any questions you have and there are no back doors at all.
Asking for a little slack Lee as this has taken a lot of hard work and not sure any communication I have had with you or others on the forum warrants you issuing warnings to people, I would be confident they can make their own judgements.

Sorry Lee, but I think you are reading this wrong. You questioned Warren in public on the forum. He chose to reply via a PM, but then decided to defend his reputation in public, which is his right. The defence was made in exactly the way you initially questioned him. I don’t think that is nonsense at all and can’t see why you’re getting so wound up.
Fast nearing the point where I pull the plug on this thread...
