Hornby Dublo restoration project

Erm that is the intermediate batch, bought something off a chap on eBay who asked if I wanted a box of 9 dublo bodies for £20 so couldn't say no but they are awaiting blasting as it's a lot easier than paint stripping and a lot less messy.
The freight vans were thrown in free and I am just trying to do them up so someone could use them as a line side static or something. I think they are different scales, the small ones plastic and looks like TT and the big one I guess is 00 and made of mazac?
Quite enjoying the castle body I am doing, chap who sent me it also threw in a set of brass name plates so hoping it comes up well.
Do you know much about BR tank loco not so common colour schemes?

I assume you mean the 0-6-2 LNER N2 tank engines? There is info on LNER liveries here.

I think the N2 tanks were black for most of their lives, but if you scroll down there is information on a red lined black version. I think they were black in GNR and BR ownership as well, but that gives you three side tank lettering options.

It's decals I'm afraid, I didn't hand paint them. Though the tender is made of 20 separate pieces.

Kings cross & off we went LNER all the names come back Perterbrough Grantham Doncaster.
The advert staging set in fields in huge letters. The steam passing the windows in drafts
And the clikety click as I placed my head on the window & felt the motion.
Then we arrive in Hull at Paragon station.
The driver & fireman leaning on the side with those caps they wore steam still escaping & that smell of hot oil.
Those huge wheels on the locomotive.
Brought back a lot of memories James. That was all 1944 up to about 1955.
Keep at it nice to see the work you are doing. I have loved through out my life restoring this that & all the other.

There's something about the smell of steam plant equipment and boilers that can never be mistaken.
I used to work at Didcot railway centre with my father who was a fireman there. I mainly used to clean the locos but miss the smells of it.

Yes been to Didcot. Just out side. we parked our caravan on a farm which had an old windmill in the grounds.
Not been to the railway area.
Visited Crewe. We had an hilarious 15 minutes. We climb up the weird iron bridges they had over the lines.
A crew were filling up with water & acting like nutters laughing, taking the mick acting like fools. So funny
our kids were falling about laughing.
Matter of interest Jersey has a train museum. They have built a track in a field & trundle this loco with carriage around it.
There used to be a train line the length of the Island on the southern side on the sea line. Germans made mess of it. Now it is
a walk & very nice as well. But no train. Some one pondered on laying a bit of track etc. but not yet.

So today was transfers and tbh lining out locos just sucks out any enthusiasm I have.
Morlais castle almost done, need to finish can side lining on both sides and install grab rails when they arrive and after that a final coat of varnish (tender still needs doing).
Little tank loco needs water tanks and can sides lining and numbering and then a final coat of varnish.
King George VI is done? Just needs varnish but I think I will pick out whistles brass and then maybe the grease boxes in silver?

So almost done three main bodies (tenders excluded).
1. N2 body complete except number (didn't have any BR numerals and LMS ones don't look right) and final coat of varnish.
2. Castle needs front coupling and then final varnish. I tried to do the rail as one piece but was too much of a faff/I was too lazy. Tender then to follow.
3. Duchess class done, just final varnish and tender. Picked out some brass buts just to add detail. Tender will be LMS.
