Sorry for the delay in posting my finished diorama, but I wanted to wait until conditions were right to take some pictures. Yesterday was such a day. Luuuvverrly deep shadows!

In the Italian village of Fusilli, the rearguard of the retreating enemy has put up a short, but fierce resistance to the advancing Allies.
A Tiger tank has been destroyed along with a Panzer. Unfortunately an American gunner has destroyed the Tiger far too late, and the wreck has ended up blocking the bridge that elements of the U.S. armour wished to use as a means to crossing the river.

An American photographer has snapped the moment when the Major in charge of the successful liberation of the village is quizzing the poor chap responsible for the 'road block'.

"Lieutenant, want my tanks across that bridge - TONIGHT!"

I've taken far too many pictures, so I've chosen a mixture of colour and b/w. If you would like to 'suffer' some more, I'll post them. I also took a couple with the houses backdrop I painted, I gave it my best shot, but I'm not really happy with the effect. If anyone would like to see them, I'll post these too.

Fantastico ! A superb piece , thoughtfully composed and photographed to be photo realistic . The azure skies over Fusilli add to the feel , i can imagine those poor squaddies sweating in the mediterranean sun ( as well as sweating over how theyre going to get over the bridge now )

Nicely done 570, I usually go for the b&w effect but in this case, the contrast between all the different elements in the scene come alive in the color shots..... that's how my eyes see it anyway. Tip 'O the Hat Sir! :thumb2: Rick H.

AN RON why cant they just use the sherman to push the tiger off the bridge as its reight nr the edge of the bridge an yes i know that tiger wheighs in at 60 odd tons
an would a sheman be able to do it ? an brillant work BTW

A minor point, dry stowage Shermans had added applique armor on the front right turret side, both ammo storage locations right hullside & as you have it on the left hull side. It's at a very bad angle. Maybe a platoon of them could drag it over to the US side.

Completely agree - a little bit of 'depth' by shadows would've worked wonders!

Just arrived back home from a few days camping, so sorry for the late response, boys.

Paul and Gerry. When you did your watercolour paintings, I'm sure you will have come across the same problem I had with this effort of mine.- Depth.

I tried to get a balance between the model buildings in the foreground and the painted background. As I wanted them quite a bit back, I reasoned that too much detail to the painted buildings would bring them too close. I might have a second bash. I'll see......
