discussion Unappreciated Queen alien 6th scale

Hi people new to forum though I would share my lockdown project she’s the queen from aliens a 1/6th scale sitting in her hive so not small lol scratch built by myself over 9 weeks using air clay and anything I could get my hands on !!! The hive itself has lights that shine up through the grates just like in the film and at a total height of 80cm was a proper labour of love .any thoughts let me know all the best people Anthony

Found some more pictures inc the blue and red light inserts unfortunately sitting in my loft now unappreciated as my other half wants space oh well lol

that's impressive - what sort of clay did you use? - I've been using DAS. - and what paint? I'm not into sci-fi/fantasy, but I really appreciate good modellng, whatever the genre :thumb2:

Hi Dave air dry clay over a fine mesh skeleton sorry can’t remember the name but got it from Germany it’s ideal as it has got extra fibres within its make up so bonds really well without cracking due to shrinking whilst drying. As for the paint itself after sealing the clay with a 10%pva mix I then hardened with a coat of epoxy once dry aprox 1 week I used good quality acrylics then sealed with non yellowing sealer spray

It is indeed, ridiculously good. I'm in awe of something this good, especially scratch built. Amazing work.

If I could offer suggestions they would be - put a top on that cage, and keep the light on!

Because they mostly come at night... Mostly

wll talk again as im pooped after loading all those pics took 3 an a half hrs so im now shutting down for a little while an sit out in the sun but i will be back on this evening as this is a very popular forum an thats how it should be

Lovely bit of work. I think you should push back a bit and get her back out of the loft……she’ll degrade up there and there is too much skill on display here for that to happen. If you really can’t find room, then perhaps selling her on is the best option….

Hi Tim Yeah might be an option problem is I would not have a clue to values? Cost was around £600 so god knows ? Want the room as I’ve got plans for a large totally scratch built Firefox diorama in the hanger !!! The Firefox will be 1 meter on its own with lights sound etc and a smoke effect etc

Once I have room as you can appreciate that is going to be quite a task as I said to Tim just don’t know what to do with the aliens queen? Thing is I like this Firefox idea a lot !!!! Lol happy wife happy life
