Another HobbyBoss 'Easy Assembly' model.
The Dornier 335 'Pfeil' was one of the many Luftwaffe advanced projects that ran out of time ( too many projects chasing too little resources..............) It was variously, a heavy fighter, nightfighter, fast bomber - it's difficult to say how many were made - about 30? It was very fast, possibly the fastest WWII propeller driven aircraft. The twin engine 'pushmi-pullyu' made for several problems - the 335 was one of the first aircraft fitted with an ejector seat - vital if the pilot was to miss the rear prop blades. Captain Eric Brown - the foremost British Test Pilot, flew one after the was, he thought it was good, very fast, but not a dogfighter.
The normal vac-formed support isn't used on this model - it's too big! Instead the wing is supplied wired to a piece of card.
Sprues ( and separate parts )
A few more pieces than normal easy assembly models, but it is a big aircraft. Sprues clean, sink & flash free.
Decals look OK - 2-piece swastikas, so as not to offend people.
Instructions - Glossy A4 sheet, folded to A5
One colour scheme - Colours referred back to various makers, No RLM numbers, but a bit of research should be easy. There is no reference to adding a noseweight - but I reckon it'll need a fair bit.

The parts will need a bit of clean up, there are quite a few ejector pips to remove - ingates a bit chunky, but not too bad. There are a few seams that will need a sanding stick running over them. Cockpit detail is minimal, as is normal with these models - adding a pilot will obscure that. AM parts? the only one I've seen is a canopy paint mask - and that was about £6 delivered!
It's very suitable for a beginner - even the colour scheme is simple. I know that the model has accuracy issues - like with the propellers, but it's such an unusual aircraft that most people would be happy with it OOB.
Availability - hmmm - a few retailers have it on their sites, but none have it in stock - I got mine from Amazon at £10.99 - I'd bought some other stuff & I took advantage of the free postage over £20! Otherwise ebay & pre-owned sites.
