Down the the last bit of AK Black Primer, so got some of this

If it's like the other 3rd. Generation acrylics, this should be good stuff.........
Dave
I’d be interest in your honest opinion of this Dave. I can’t find stynylrez anywhere at a reasonable price. I have (and use) the Vallejo stuff but don’t like it if it needs sanding. I’m therefore stuck with cellulose based primer until I find an acrylic primer that sands to a feather edge and sticks properly.
Same here Dave. Would be very interested to know how it performs.

Use it and have to say was pleased, used both their own thinners and Ultimate. Could see no difference in either of the thinners.
How does it sand though John. To date I’ve found acrylics just tear if you need to do remedial work. Not an issue on my little blokes, but an essential quality if you work on things like aircraft or civilian cars…..

I`ve been after a better display case for a while now, narrowly missed out on a couple the last 6 months or so.
However,my luck changed on Wednesday when my solitary bid of TEN QUID actually won one!! Even better...... it was "Collection only"..... Buckfastleigh...... which is just 10 miles down the A38!!:thumb2:
Just picked it up,it needs a bit of a clean but Hey,i can cope with that!!.........
Ere tis.......

My wife actually suggested the other week that I should get a display cabinet....no one was more shocked than me.....I might start having a look.

There are plenty about Andrew...... trouble is,they`re usually "Collection only",which, depending on how far you`re prepared to travel, does limit your choice somewhat.
It`s just a waiting game for the right one to turn up really,a case of "Slowly,Slowly catchey Monkey"!! :thumb2:

Tim - most primers look ok but the real test, as you say, is will it sand to a feathered edge without peeling back. Same with fillers.
Andy - display case is definitely a real bargain. Those figures look nice and I've used Coastal Kits bases a couple of times. They're very good as a quick fix. The main drawback is they are totally smooth.

Yes Jim,totally flat as you say,i`ll probably limit the additional stuff to just a few tufts of static grass here and there to break it up a bit.Certainly wouldn`t use them for my AFV dios, but to plonk a plane on they suit me fine :thumb2:.
The figures are very nice, looking forward to painting them up actually..... hopefully that detail will pop right out!;)

Best general filler I’ve found is Tamiya Jim, but that’s unobtanium in the UK. It is very similar to cellulose knife stopping that used to be used on car bodies. The AK cellulose is pretty good, so that tends to be my current “go to”. Acrylic fillers I limit to complex areas where the water clean up is useful because I find they don’t sand or adhere properly either. To be honest, if the flaw is a gap in a joint (happens on aircraft wings sometimes) I glue in slivers of plastic card or stretched sprue to both fill the gap and maintain the strength of the join. I do have Mr surfacer in a couple of grades, but that’s more like a filler primer than a filler per se.

That was a fantastic bargain. All in with the top, base and downlights. BTW, are the glass supports adjustable in heights?
