Ron's what-if Panzerzerstorer Tiger II

Thanks Guys ! Believe it or not, after all that grafting, the rooftop sanded out pretty well. Will see how it looks with the undercoat... but to the touch , seems quite fair to me !
That rear hatch though....ehhh.... meh. Looks a bit undersized to me , I'm just not 'wowwed' by that arrangement, so I may revise that panel with something larger.
Thanks for your kind words Fellas !

Getting there ..... needs weld beads and some cast texture on the cupola, still a bit of work left on the rear, so I'm forgoing pics of that angle right now. Needs an antenna.... I'm sure some other details will come to mind

Thanks Guys and Girl ! :smiling2: I like what-if's on occasion , can't really be taken seriously and more fun involved in the build

IMHO, the important thing with them is: is it believable? You often see models like this and get the impression the builder went with whatever seemed fun rather than wondering if it would be realistic and possible. On your model I would say the presence of Zimmerit is questionable, but at the same time, if this represents a kind of “Wehrmacht 1946” type of vehicle in which Germany didn’t lose the war in the factories, I can see it remaining in use at the point at which your creation would have been in service. Other than that, it looks entirely believable to me, and well-built as well :)

Jakko , my thoughts on the Zim, not so much the historical plausibility, but my finished product.... personally I wish I had done better. It's okay and I won't lose sleep over it and I am satisfied overall with this project so far otherwise. I only do Zim every so often and feel like I need to 're-learn' the required technuque each time I take it on. I agree about certain artistic licenses taken, sure. For example, I for one am not a big fan of twin huge cannons sharing a turret...

Thanks Paul ! That honeycomb is Verlinden's chicken wire
Which, I think is just brown tule sold at a very high markup :)

I wish I had done better.
It may be slightly thick, but not so much that it distracts from the appearance, IMHO.

That sort of thing, yes. It kills the pretense that this is a (model of a) real vehicle for me, and so I would avoid that kind of thing completely if I were to build a model like this. That said, I do want the upcoming Takom VT 1-2 and turn it into a what-if 1980s in-service vehicle … :)
