So as i have a new modelling room and a new desk its time to for my first build in there. Something that should be pretty straight forward, trumpeters 1/350 hms cornwall. Looks to be nicely moulded and comes with some etch parts.
Have started with drilling out the portholes in the hull and fitted the deck which is a nice fit.

Another floaty thing.....only ever made two, both in my youf. The venerable Airfix HMS Belfast and British wartime air/sea rescue launch of some sort.

Good luck with the build.

Made a start with a bit of the PE the ladder has had each step twisted so is at the right angle, 20230218_212601.jpg20230218_141850.jpg
Added some railings ,first lot ok but then hit a snag! Looks like a bit of chopping will have to take place.20230218_212537.jpg20230218_212342.jpg

Those latest updates are amazing. Those steps must have taken a lot work!

I used to be an out and out armour man when I'm came back to the hobby....I had a couple of planes but in the past year or so planes have taken over!

Keep up the great work.

Andrew

Good job mark, on the Tashkent I added the railings last after painting. I assume the superstructure decks are the same colour as the sides?

Ive decided im going to try and add as much of the railings as i can before painting as i would do them after and end up with chipped railings and ca everywhere. If i paint the tops a different colour it will be after the sides and ill just spend some time carefully masking. The instuctions would have me paint the all the top surfaces including decks in dark sea grey, from what ive read online a lot of people suggest this is wrong and if its not im painting the wood decks tan anyway.20230219_092615.jpg

Ive got some deck tan on, this will get a coat of clear then washed and weathered before being sealed and masked for the rest of the hull painting. The deck doesn'look quite so yellow just my rubbish picture taking.
A couple of structures in colour, again a coat of clear then washed and weathered before fitting to the deck.20230219_224841.jpg20230219_224337.jpg20230219_224305.jpg

It's a shame when you have to cover all that lovely PE with paint looking good though!!
