Snowy morning!

Get the waders on you are due for floods... Had to go to a delivery NE of Udine, came up to an old Baily bridge - either I was too wide or the bridge was too narrow. Local guy said follow me, down we went into a field next to the bridge, and he wanted me to follow him across a dry river bed, said it was ok, another truck came past and went straight across so I followed... Found the factory, went to bed, got up next morning and saw I was parked in 6 inches of water... Got unloaded and thought, ok back to the bridge and job done.. followed another truck and we both came to a screeching halt, there was no river bed, just a torrent of water... Took us four hours to get back to the autostrada....
Typical of the rivers in this area whose bed is a gravel layer laid on clay: water infiltrate from the highground to the north and hits the surface downstream when the space between the river bed and the clay layer is full. Every years many campers or tourists looking for some tanning and refreshment are rescued from river beds that were dry as Sahara just 15 minutes before; the water can rise rapidly coming from underground without warning when it rains on the mountains.
No more bailey bridges now, at least.

Well the snow plough has been by. Four times. The salt spreader thrice! No sign of the bus. Lol
Bin men have said we won't be out until the roads are clear.
Me... stayed in the house log fire, coffee... had to fight my way to the barn for kindling for the fire though. A good 12 - 16 inches of the stuff.

It snowed most of yesterday, only very lightly, then apparently a bit more in the night... And its just starting up again.
Not going out in that!

Oh great! Guess who’s flying into CPH on Sunday? Hope the weather improves and the hangar doors stay closed.

You could be OK by Sunday, should be cold but dry... but the northern end of Denmark is colder than down sarf like me.
What's broken this time. Or is is service time.

Be prepared for the BBC (British Bulls... Collaborators) to drag out the news at lunchtime. They will have dragged all the reporters back from Ukraine and Gaza (where they have never been but believe every word) to position them in the deepest snow they can find to report on how the country is now coming to a standstill - thought the country was there already.
Just looked out the window - weather forcast - fog at first, temp cold, sun now out and scorching your eyeballs out, later it will get dark and the moon will appear... That is the news and weather...
In other news the girl is one today.... we are still on the Vallium and drip fed scotch....

Mike.
You are so cynical my man :loudly-crying::loudly-crying::loudly-crying:!
Steve

No snow here......got a couple inches in October, was gone in a few days. We usually have the "white stuff" on the ground around Thanksgiving time. I blame El Nino' but others are shouting "Global Warming"......"Climate Change" etc. We do have quite a bit in the higher elevations, probably above 4000 feet.....we are at 3300 here with just a low overcast and 25 deg. F.

Well, it is the first day of summer today here in NZ, and the sun is out and the temp at 9am is 12C, later it should climb to about 20C, so all in we are having it pretty good.
I do feel sorry for you lot, having the whole winter ahead of you.
Good luck
Garry

Don't miss Buffalo, NY on nights like this. Have to use power lines & stop lights to find the road.
Did see the report on You tube. such a shame our snow is so pathetic and causes so much panic.

No snow down south in St Albans. Its bloody cold though and was frosty earlier. We do do get snow here but not that often and when we do it causes chaos. Personally I love it when it snows.
Like you, we in sunny Luton get a heavy frost and the country turns to stone...

Yeah! but we do not scream when we come across the holly and where its put... Enjoy Rick.

True, this was just such a river, bone dry and took a few 40 ton trucks going across it, coming back the water had risen about 6 feet...
