Never had Apple anything. Never will. I refuse to pay 1000 for something worth 300 just because it has a picture of an apple on it.

I used to be a big Blackberry fan and the last BB I had, with the full touchscreen instead of that little keyboard (far easier to use than any touch screen!), was a great phone.

But we all know what happened to BlackBerry so I switched to an iPhone and had one ever since. I always buy the biggest screen I can get and have had the current phone for around 3 1/2 years, bought outright. I find it excellent value and if I bought a cheaper model would probably have wanted to upgrade before now. I doubt that I will do so for a couple more years, unless something goes wrong.

Yes, Apple products are somewhat more expensive but they are made well and are good quality. I have never used an Apple computer but I did have friends who did and they loved them.

As for Apple TV, I consider it to be the best streaming service I have tried and I have tried a few. There is less content than other but it is, again, high quality and I watch it more than Netflix, I have kept my Netflix account open but, right now, have nothing on it I want to watch. Prime is OK overall with a lot of content but producing the new Reacher series makes them an essential. Paramount Plus has Yellowstone and its spin-offs, along with several other excellent series such as Seal Team and La Brea. Although Apple has less content than all these I find myself watching it more than any of them.

Incidentally - Disney+ is a disaster having wrecked all their franchises, hence replacing that with Apple.

It's horses for course. Apple - Samsung, Apple - Microsoft.
For me it's Apple. The connectivity between MacBook, phone and tablets are just great. Enter something on one and it's reproduced on the others. No copy and pasting between products.
I lost the plot with MS and Linux way back. MS just lost me in the hacks and blue screens of death plus frequent updates. (Yeah I know, the blue screens of death were in the past, but that was when I was using them).
Linux!! Well if you didn't know your way around a computer you were goosed!!! You spent more time writing lines of script than actually using the damn thing.
Simply put - Apple works. It's the complete package for most users. You need very few separate apps or programmes - if any. Added to that. I was forever finding with MS I was unable to read certain file formats. Never had an issue with Apple. They open MS .docs the works. Yes they are expensive. But against that, I don't upgrade them as often as I did with MS/Linux so effectively as cost effective.
Each to his own I say but I could never go back to Microsoft.

Are Audi made by Apple? Can a Lada do all the things an Audi can?

That statement is making my argument for me

Apple are overpriced for what they are.

So are Audis. Yet people buy them, or aspire to buy them, when they could get cheaper cars that also get them from A to B — but Audi gets nowhere near as much flak for being overpriced as Apple computers or phones do, when IMHO the two are pretty comparable in their respective fields.

I’m not clutching at straws for “justifying” me using a Mac. I use a Mac for the reason I already mentioned: it’s a far easier tool than Windows or Linux for the things I use computers for, and because I spend quite a lot of time each day using it, that is an important factor for me.

If anyone who does have apple TV + could let me know if the episodes are weekly or all at once that would be great. I cancelled my subscription a while back as I wasn't using the service that much, but will sign back up for this, although will wait for all episodes to be available.

Tell me, did you watch ‘For All Mankind’ when you had Apple? It is a superb ‘alternative history’ series about the space race currently with 4 series and another soon to come. What about Ted Lasso as well? Both well worth the subscription. It is my favourite streaming channel.

I watched the first episode today, and thought it was pretty good. It didn’t totally grip me and make me want to watch the next one immediately, but good enough that I will do that in the near future.

BTW, there are two episodes out — the third will be available next week, 6 February, but it already shows up in the episode selector, which is probably why Barry says there are three. I looked it up, and the last episode will be released on 15 March, off the top of my head.

Good to know, thank you. I'll hold off to be able to watch all in a couple of chunks. I've not tried 'For All Mankind,' but it sounds interesting. I'll give that a go. I did try Ted Lasso, but working in professional sport myself, actually found it a bit frustrating to watch.

I liked the first season of For All Mankind, but found the second one getting harder and harder to suspend disbelief for towards the end of the second. I so far haven’t bothered watching third or fourth.

I'm gutted, I worked as a prop-maker on this series and I won't get to see it unless I sign up for Apple TV, which I don't intend to do.
Before the strikes there was talk of Crew getting a link to watch if for free, but I haven't heard a dickie bird-presumably they're not offering it now.

I happily buy Apple computers etc. not because of what’s on the box but because I find them easier to use than the competition — they don’t nearly get in my way as much as Windows does and there’s none of the aggravation you get when trying to keep a Linux system up to date (or just get it working at all). That they can be used for about twice as long as a Windows PC is also not an insignificant consideration.

But what happened with windows was that they got all the bugs ironed out when they got to XP, then they tried to fix all the problems that are not there starting with that awful Millenium edition.
As for AUDI,fully agree I would not buy one - once bitten twice shy as they say.

Phone is LG G3/SIM only contract age 5... (still got the Blackberry)
TV, Firestick and downloaded apps such as Cinema+ etc.
PC, 5 year old and still running on XP, but big processor loads of RAM and 2tb hard drive.

The phone is used as a phone/camera and nothing else.

The TV now does not use bbc so the licence is out for good, the Firestick and the apps I download (I do not have a pre loaded firestick - dodgy) cover all the items I want to watch and why have a tv contract with channels I would never consider watching so another saving. The bbc maintain they do not advertise - but they inform you of future productions and products - Hey! wait a minute that is advertising according to the advertising standards organisation of which the bbc are a founding member.... And they (bbc) claim you cannot watch live programmes - so how many programmes are actually live, how many are pre-recorded and how many are repeats??? I went through the tv book one day and counted up the live programmes it averaged out over a 24 hour period to three a day excluding the news over the 7 day period.

The pc - I originally bought one back in 2001 with an operating system already installed - had more trips to the shop that in use, went on a IT Technitions course as part of my Heart attack rehabilitation via the job centre as I was not allowed to drive HGV's. Learned how to build my own etc, and that is what I have done since, buy a cheap laptop for the screen size, new motherboard, processor, hard drive, RAM etc dig out the copy of XP and the disks with the other programs on and away it goes.

I used Apple when doing my Graphic Design degree as part of the course, nice machines, but most of the work was on windows as the tutor only had a windows machine and the marking herberts were the same, so sadly they got left behind.

The exact opposite of when my lad did his degree in Graphic Design. He was advised, (Plymouth Uni), to get a Mac as that is what everyone else, (other than him) had. He tipped up with a brand new Sony whatever laptop and asked me to swop that for my MacBook. (Not even a pro).
Anyway, he went on to do well and is now lead developer, or 'coder' as he like to be known - for a big FinTech company who have so far bought him three MBP's at immense cost. Mind you, I can't understand a word he says when he's in IT mode. All code!!!
In a previous job for a entertainment company, he was producing apps for special events, some of his fellow coders were using MS machines and their Apps had trouble passing the Apple tests for acceptance to be released. My lads always passed. It has something I am told to do with Unix!!! I'll pass on that!!!

I took the degree course after doing a multi-media art and design course (NVQ ABC or whatever) then took the degree, it was supposed to be a three year course but three of us were mature students and we finished it in 2 years. Went to get a job as a graphic designer and came up against ageism a few times, so eventually got my licence back and went back on the road where I met antitruckism, truckdriverism, cannotparkhereism..... :tears-of-joy:
