Got a little done this evening. The guns were still not dry when I took the pic so I’ll have fine tune them when I put the wings on. DE73A924-B4CC-43AF-9303-A38641C58E6C.jpeg91D15A68-E01D-4883-99D9-5E28293ED8A6.jpeg

Matchbox two-tone plastic......now that brings back memories! Good luck with it Lee!

Ready for paint. I really wasn’t impressed with this build I thought this Matchbox kit would be a lot better to go together than expected there were some fit issues but the fuselage went together nicely. 12A8317E-A82B-4E5D-88AC-FE99FDA525DD.jpeg6513C5D5-06F8-4F05-AEB8-5850CC1E4F8B.jpeg7AAB1887-D992-4D38-8E46-80B60372A111.jpeg

Looking fine Lee. I suppose you have to expect fit problems with a kit which is 50 years old.

Thanks Jim. I guess I was high hoping being what the reviews were. I don’t think I’ll be building much Matchbox in the future

Got some painting done today. First I painted a base coat of gray then I outlined my Camo pattern within a pencil. Next I thought I would try out my New Airbrush my wife bought me last fall. This is my first time using it so I thought I would be good practice on this build. The cordless brush is nice for a beginner like me. I have some over spray on it next time I will mask with Modeling clay. I’ll re-paint the gray to get rid of the over spray by hand painting it after I think about this I wonder if I should just stick to hand painting my Camo like I’ve done for years but playing with the airbrush was fun and a great learning curve. 5F5C5F7C-4803-495E-8663-1784ED712F97.jpeg4AA54055-DD52-470D-8683-D9D2D5A37DE4.jpegC8C738D8-93C8-425D-B8E5-B44D7CEA06E6.jpeg178F92A5-4850-420F-AC58-0ACEE8F362BE.jpegC605EBB6-5D1A-4137-BB4C-73AFEBAC3844.jpeg70AC6C03-49FA-40DE-B708-4621A7F18275.jpegAD8B9E45-87B8-43A9-BFBC-3E95E943ECC3.jpeg

Good work with your new airbrush Lee, looking very nice :thumb2:

Geoff.
Thanks Geoff I did miss some spots so I’m going back over it on the tail section where I missed. I’ll try some modeling clay for a mask and see if it works.

This morning I finished the airbrushing of the black Camo. Here’s my thoughts about Airbrushing. It’s very time consuming with the mixing, thinning of paint and the cleaning up of the Airbrush. I figured with all that time involved and still did not get the results I wanted is not worth it to me. I could have hand painted this whole thing in in less time it took me messing with the Airbrush. I think the Airbrush would be handy in painting the bottom of Aircraft’s that need a light coat or a fading effect but for me not a basic Camo paint scheme. I’ll go back to my old ways of painting like I’ve done for over 45 years Hand painting model planes. It was a great learning curve. Will I put it away forever????Of course not I will use it when I think it’s needed. Thanks for the complements. 6702AC6C-A14A-4D17-A579-8B263D30865C.jpeg89855AFA-0749-4B95-8B93-030725C0FDD3.jpegAB6CB701-5210-4596-B2CA-E9A7068EFC64.jpeg47C75608-1D83-4E7F-ABE4-7F3CC7261EE0.jpeg

That's looking rather good Lee. Airbrush v hairy stick is so often a difficult and personal choice. Definitely turning out far better than the old kit deserves. Well done. Decals will really make it stand out.
