discussion AK Real Colour Markers?

As the title - anyone tried these, or seen credible feedback? ( I assume they're like a Sharpie? )

Some of our guys bought some at the Penang Show and tried them. Looks pretty good for sharp edged camo.

I have tried brush painting this, but not very convincingly - a marker may give that much more control.................

I assume they are used to "paint' small parts instead of a brush? If so you would have to use AK paints for a perfect colour match?

I assume so - but that shouldn't be a problem with doing just the squiggle part of the camo, over the yellow base. They must be quite new, I haven't seen much about them - there are reviews on YouTube, but I just hoped that one of the forum members had used them!

Was hoping to possibly use on small ship parts, especially in place! But not much use as I use lacquers!

I’ve recently got some. Used one to touch up a cockpit edge in interior green. Impressed and was a match for AK Real Colours interior green. Much more like painting then colouring work a marker.

Been trying to cross reference these to 'normal" AK paints and then a possible cross reference to mr Color. But can't find anything. Looked on the AK site as well

They don't seem to do much ship stuff but have a deck set which I'll get to see for myself.

The markers are listed as RCM but do not seem to have any cross reference to the actual real colors themselves. They do not use the same nos for example

I emailed AK and to my surprise there is a no cross reference to the bottled stuff, find that very odd. So if you use say the dunkelgelb from that bottle and the marker to paint tools for example will the tools stand out like a sore thumb??

I received mine at the weekend and have only used them to experiment on some small parts. The Rubber Black has made a good job of some 1/72 tyres which already had the hubs painted, the pen is easy to control and the spread of paint is easily controllable between the tip and the side of the nib. I haven't used them on top of any other makes of paint yet, but there were no problems covering Ultimate Primer-Grey.
A 1/72 pilot was painted up in about 10 minutes, no paint bleed at all.
My brush control has always been awful, so I am hoping these pens will sharpen up my detail work.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and have to say that I'm very impressed by the performance of the pens. The application of the paint is very good with the second pass to ensure even coverage able to be applied almost immediately after the first. They are not too hefty a pen to hold, being just slightly thicker than a standard ballpoint. The tips are nicely pointed and paint can easily be applied by contacting the thicker side of the nib. I have used them for cockpit detail and some slightly larger surfaces inside an Me 262 engine ceiling with no difficulty.

Obviously the life of them and long term life of the paint in storage is, as yet unknown but, my initial impression is positive.
