Scale Model Shop

Boatmans Super Hornet F18/A- F Build

WELL Doug how big a screen is the biggest as i like a fair size pics so i can see the models on this site an do they have to have sercurity like norton on ?
chrisb
Not too sure. I know they do a 9inch version. Bin Norton. There are way better AV programs.
As iPads are apple, it’s pretty secure without AV. SWMBO’s has never had any and she’s on her second.
Have a search for iPads, also have a look at Samsungs tablets.
Seriously, bin Norton, historically they have always had issues.
I use an Apple laptop and use a AV program called ClamXv. Superb. Wouldnt touch Norton with a pole vaulting pole!!!

HI Jakko what is an ipad ? as im not up on tecknoagly
This is exactly why I think you would be better off with one :) An iPad is a tablet computer, which means it’s basically a screen and nothing else, like a smartphone but a bit smaller than A4 in size (and you can’t make phone calls with it). They’re intended to be much easier to use than a laptop, because like on a smartphone, you just tap things on the screen. No need for anti-virus software, either. Oh, and you can take pictures of your models with one and then post them on the forum here without having to put them on your computer first :)

https://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/

One drawback is that you only have an on-screen keyboard, but you can buy keyboards from different manufacturers so you have a real one of those to type on, which is a lot more comfortable for things like making posts on a forum.

(Note for the computer-literate here that I’m specifically recommending an iPad rather than an Android tablet because of the iPad’s generally greater ease of use and especially its lower maintenance.)

Go to your nearest department store that sell them and have a look at the picture definition - I think you'll be surprised at how clear the images are. And with thumb and forefinger you can zoom into the image to really bring out the detail.
Huses! Are you referring to the electrical store in your neck of the woods 'Hughes'??

yea Jakko an i;ll have a look but not keen on touch screen jobs

That was Waspie who said that, not me :) But don’t be put off touchscreens by poorly designed parking meters — Apple, Google, etc. know much better how to make those work, than designers of street furniture do :) Like he said, go to a shop that sells them if you happen to be nearby, find the demonstration models and play with one for a bit to see how they work.

I'm another that doesn't get on with touchscreens or touchpads. Not a fan of anything Apple either. The company I worked for was at first 100% Apple (several thousand desktops and a smaller number of portables) but later switched to Windows PCs which were found to be easier and cheaper to support across the company.

My advice to Chris would be to uninstall Norton, which is well known for causing problems, and download one of the free antivirus programs such as AVG.

Chris, I've been using AVG free download edition for about 25 years and never had a problem. They occasionally invite me to give them money for extra features but I always skip that.

WELL Pete im just gonna finish the norton time as still two wks left an you say unload norton how do i do that ? do i just hit delete or something ?
chrisb

You have to uninstall it Chris. In Windows, click the Start button, then The cog wheel for Settings. Then go to Apps, click on that. Then a list of all the apps and programs are installed on your computer; find Norton, click on it and you should see an option to uninstall.
Pete

Chris google ‘how to uninstall Norton’
You need to completely remove it. To do that you need to download a ‘removal tool’ (another small program).
Just deleting it will leave a lot of stuff behind messing up your pc. If unsure, ask a friend.

Edited bit

Link to 'How to uninstall Norton from Windows PC from Norton Website;-

The Link to uninstall

Hope this helps Chris and good luck.
