Started making this model about 1987 and took approx 4 yrs before it was finished, had a couple of house moves in that period, so was not able to just keep at it to finish the model.

Used this vehicle as inspiration for the model, tried to do a miniature version of the full sized vehicle, BUT, I failed on that one.
Changed quite a few things compared to the original vehicle so a few minor modifications to the truck.

Now the prime mover is only a Highly MODIFIED version of the Monogram 1/16 scale kit Kenworth.

The Dolly and Low Loader are actually Scratchbuilt, the load on the float is only a Bruder kids toy that I chopped around and changed a few bits to make it look a bit more realistic.

I'll post this lot as several posts, as it's photo heavy, first lot is a bunch of photos showing a few things that I did to the Kenworth kit.
Second post will show the complete model painted and assembled.

The kit chassis was black and all other coloured bits added to the chassis, are things that I made and added to it.

Without further ado, have a look and see what you think -------------

Then I took to the Bruder kids toy and removed some bits, then added a few extras to give it a bit more realistic look about it ----------
Tossed the main boom, dipper arm and bucket, changed a few things in the cab and altered the way the grouser plates fitted ------P1010574.webp

Ohh, S.A.R. stands for Shortened Australian Righthand drive.

Wow! That is an impressive model. I can only imagine the hours of work that went into it.

Outstanding in every way.

Great work there. A well earned medal.
