I was looking for something in the stash, box in spare bedroom, and came across this.

I have had it for many years. I seem to remember it was part of a "job lot". Not only is the car of 1956 vintage but so is the kit. Made when Revell was an American company.

Very simple instructions and rather a lot of flash.

Normally I would have swiftly returned it to it's place at the bottom of the pile. However it looked at me and said "I dare you!" I wanted something which wouldn't matter if it ended up in the bin, something cheap and unimportant. Also there has been a recent thread on the forum about polishing to get a good gloss, something I've never tried, so I thought this might be a chance to have a go. Consequently this geriatric ended up on the bench.

First job was the front axle/suspension. The kit part was hopeless. Now I have no clue about cars - I wouldn't know a spark plug from a fan belt. My idea of a maintenance check is to count the wheels - 4 and I'm good to go. ( I do however have a most excellent local garage so my car is well looked after ). I modified the suspension, probably not accurate but looks better.

The back suspension was also pretty poor. I made new springs. The kit part is at the top.

That's the underside done.

The rear springs look odd but I've checked and they do fit at that angle.

I'm actually having fun - no pressure :D

Thats right up my street jim ! An ancient kit of a brilliant subject . Looking forward to this , are you going to use the figures too?
The box art is fantastic too , worth framing and hanging up in the model room .

Some progress in between garden jobs - SWMBO speaking "At last the rain has stopped so we need to tidy the garden". Translates as "Stop messing about with those bits of plastic and get out there!" :D

The kit does not supply a clear part for the windscreen. I cleaned up the frame, had to cut off the wiper blades, and made a template from masking tape.

I used that to cut out a slightly larger piece of thin clear styrene. I held it in position on the frame with little clips and wicked thin CA into the join.

After 24hrs I trimmed the edges and gave the screen a bit of a polish. Not perfect but should be OK. Bit of a gap, bottom left, but I'll live with that.

All the chromed parts were stripped with bleach. I don't like kit chrome - always seems too thick and shiny. Also correcting fit issues destroys the finish and can't be patched.

The canvas hood and the cab carpet were given a bit of texture with Mr Surfacer 500.

To answer Tony's question - Yes I will use the figures. They took a lot of clean up but are actually rather nice and fit well.

Thanks all for looking in.

I have managed to get the body together. Fit was OK although most of the locating pins had to be removed as they were either too large for their corresponding holes or in the wrong place. Worst was the bonnet - needed lots of weights and left overnight.
IMG20260307220329.webp

All parts mounted up for painting. The stripped chrome parts have a gloss black primer.
IMG20260309121214.webp

The chassis primed with MRP black.
IMG20260309121114.webp

The body will be red so I used MRP red oxide primer. Black for the door cards.

Looking good Jim, that body certainly needed some persuasion by the looks of it.
