Jim R's German Field Kitchen

This is looking good - not sure about the stew, but I would guess any hot food was welcome, even if the sausages might be suspect.

Could well be the pin was a guide to stop the axle being forced sideways. Ie it could move up and down freely and wasn’t fixed. Railway wagons used similar technology, axle boxes sliding in a groove.
Sounds logical Tim. Although the pin was only short and the instructions don't have a "do not glue" symbol although that does appear elsewhere.
As to the horses, won’t you have to scratchbuild the tack that goes with them
No. I will have the horses unhitched and grazing quietly nearby.

I think I will leave my error. Correcting it may well carry too much risk of damage. It is mostly hidden behind the wheel anyway. The wheels will end up about 1.5 mm too high against the kitchen body looking at the pictures in the instructions. This will not be noticeable - hopefully!

So I shall carry on and endeavour to not make any more c***-*ps.

Late to the party as always Jim. Nice additions and detailing. Looking forward to seeing where this project goes. Happy modelling my friend

A bit more progress.
Each of the three heaters has an ash tray. They were moulded empty. I filled them with ground up white, grey and black pastel fixed with VMS Ballast freeze. I'm not sure how much will be seen but better play safe.

The wheels have horrible mould seams which had to be scraped/sanded away.

Not my favourite part of the hobby

There is a boiler on the left for coffee. Had to fit a tap.

The right hand side step.

I'm now working on the limber. Pretty straightforward.
