How do we manage to lose large parts ?

Well , having made up and painted a seat for a 1/12th scale Italeri Bugatti a little while ago, yesterday I could not find the pesky thing to do a trial fit into the bodywork. How I managed to mis lay it is a mystery right now having looked in what I thought all the obvious places I might have...

    HI Kaci

Looks like it is a kit Pigtech. Aoshima logo, bottom RH corner on the box is the giveaway.

    Brian's Sovereign of the seas

A very impressive model taking shape here. The Sovereign must have been the most ornate British ship back in its day.

    The Football Thread

Er, we did have a number of large sports stadiums back in the sixties but they didn't get used for pop concerts. Shea Stadium in New York was actually a baseball ground used as a concert venue for the Beatles appearance along with another British group, Sounds Incorporated as their support act...

Airfix Mary Rose 1:400 Gift Set

Nice model build. I have one to build , and it's a lovely little kit by the looks of it. Saw one built up at Telford a couple of years back that was fully detailed and rigged. I joked with its builder that he must have a trained money spider to do his rigging! After a bit of a chuckle he told...

At what point is your "stash" getting out of hand?

472 kits Dave ! As you said in your post you buy with the intention of reselling, so maybe buying some table space at a local model show might be an idea instead of eBay with all the packing and posting etc?

    The Football Thread

I can remember both football and just about all other sports being affordable and where you could just pay at the gate to watch. When my 3rd division local team Reading FC was playing away it was a quick trip up to London on the train to watch Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea to watch a 1st division...

    The Football Thread

The 'English?' Premier League. It one can call it that! Spot the Englishman amongst all the foreign players could be a new line in betting for Ladbrookes.

    Bespoke Acrylic cases

Best to have items like display cases over boxed and well wrapped inside for protection. So not a waste of materials from this reader's point of view. Acrylic is quite brittle and even the best packed items can suffer a bad knock in transit as I found out. To their credit the company I used...

At what point is your "stash" getting out of hand?

It is no wonder that many refer to model kit stashes as 'loft insulation' ! Stealth technology has got nothing on the compulsive kit buyer getting them all past domestic security for many a year !

At what point is your "stash" getting out of hand?

A stash gets out of hand when said stash is larger than the stock of a local model shop !

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

A bit late coming to the thread here as by now this incredible model will have been auctioned off. Modellers generally grossly underestimate what their models could be worth. One really has to find the right place to sell a model like Brian's Victory. A specialist auctioneer in maritime items...

Cheap Amazon Magnifying lamp, no longer working!

Ref lighting. Two desklamps mounted on opposite sides of the work bench does it for me. 100 watt equivalent LED Cold Light bulbs are best for modelling. The warm light bulbs I would not recommend for our type of work

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

A very nice finished model.I Miko. 1/43rd is a very long and well established model car scale that is compatible with O Gauge model railways. There are literally hundreds of different 1/43rd scale kits in white metal and resin that have been produced since turn 1970's. That is without...

Model Makers Marking Out and Cutting Jig For Scratch Building (10cm)

Agreed. It looks like a 3D print Andy ! Metal is the way to go for any cutting jigs with regard to being accurate and robust in my opinion.

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

That 1/43rd scale Airfix DB5 is a relatively new kit as it happens. Airfix only started dabbling in 1/43rd scale about 6 or 7 years ago. They also did a DB5 kit in 1/32nd scale that is yonks old, dating back to the 60's /70's I think

Model Makers Marking Out and Cutting Jig For Scratch Building (10cm)

I think John race was trying to establish what the jig is made from. Is it die cast metal or something else? The do not heat notice on it suggests it might be made from some sort of plastic or resin. If plastic or resin, probably not the best of materials to use for a cutting jig ?

    TABLE SAW.

There are a number of inexpensive miniature table top circular saws on Amazon. Look carefully at the pictures of them as the same item is sold under different brand names when you look. Some have an adjustable saw blade height and others not. The adjustable saw blade ones tend to cost a little...
