    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi John, thanks for the dangly but I think it's more suited for the length it took to get to this stage. It's not really finish per say as the back of the building needs to be filled and the second tank weathered. I took the dio outside because of its size to take some shots. Click to enlarge...

Not a Moment to Lose… Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, December 1944

Well done Tim. Thanks for rebooting up the pictures. I'm having a hell of a time doing mine as well but it brings back memories of the build. There will be medals this coming Telford, I'm sure. I'm curious as I've not experienced winter but by autumn will there still be greenery except for the...

    DaveCov's Avis 1/72 Mikoyan MiG-8 (BX 72013)

Hi Dave , it's quirky but a lot of work needed to get it into shape. It's getting there. (y) Cheers, Wabble

    Pushing Back .......

Work behind the scenes looking good Toto. I guess everything has to be in place if you're going the pyrotechnic route...hard to replace or control burnt timber structures after it's done. I do the damage by hand so often cheat and leave what can't be seen off.🤪 Cheers, Wabble

    Jim R's Revell 1/72 Torpedo Boat, PT-109

Really well done Jim. I like the water, the boat and the speed. Amazing details with the crew and roped down canon. Cheers, Wabble

    Rehashing Hurtgen forest diorama

Hi Guys, it's been more than a year since I posted this dio. The last wasn't quite finished then and if you see the accompanying image you will find missing guns and straps on some figures as well as unfinished weathering to their uniforms. Dirt on the tracks didn't quite match with the...

A question for you all if I may

Hi Peter, didn't mean to put you off ships but I was looking at your situation and thought of an easier way to ease you back into modeling. But if you're gung ho for it then it wouldn't hurt. Bob's suggestion on the Tamiya Fletcher is great and I hadn't thought of it as a starter kit. It makes...

    Pushing Back .......

Hi Toto, It's me behind two of my dioramas. One is R&R the other with the palm trees is They didn't expect this - Marines at Peleliu. I haven't resized the images so on the post so will do that once I'm free. Oh ya, regarding that balsa bridge, I have made a link in the previous post... Click...

A question for you all if I may

Very small parts, yes. It may not be suitable for heavier parts that block the center areas from curing as it doesn't have chemical reactions to do it and relies on evaporation. Cheers, Wabble

A question for you all if I may

Hi Peter, as said in your introduction post you've picked the right hobby to return to except plastic ships in the scale or below can be quite a challenge but good therapy if you have the patience, eye coordination and a pair of steady hands. In the past 40 years these plastic ships kits have...

I should have done this first shouldn't I!

Welcome aboard Peter. I've still got ten more years to catch up with your age and a good choice to return to plastic modeling. Cheers, Richard aka Wabble

So what about the future, modelling and other matters.

Little drops of water make a mighty ocean, in your case they're little steps. Great to see positivity in your health and a reappearance to the dark side ala tracks and rollers. Your screen fillers of 1/32 scale builds(the bright side) will definitely invigorate the half blind folks like myself...

Mission Complete WIP of completed vignette.

Hi, the bike too needed some detailing. Whatever is not the kit colour is added...they were minor but definitely needed. The interesting addition was the rod connected from the petrol tank to the gearbox using a number 2 steel guitar string. The cables took the better of half a day to...

    Pushing Back .......

Thanks Toto, you mean the bridge made from balsa? The balsa bridge was made 40 years ago for a different concept and composition. Sat on the shelf until I had a place for it in my new diorama during covid. The completed diorama is here if you want to view it. By Friday your hands must be itching...

Mission Complete WIP of completed vignette.

Thanks Paul, you're welcome. Hi Paul, a little more attention is focused on my vignettes since it's a small area to work with. The kit heads, hands, boots and bike detail from Tamiya is good even with the limits of injection molding. There was very little to add on and only minor cabling...

Mission Complete WIP of completed vignette.

Hi, Made some progress ready for priming...the priming picked up some imperfections that needed cleaning up. But while the primer cured, I was itchy to do the base... I added stuff to the base and made it more forestry with fallen deciduous that would be partly covered with snow...

Thanks Toto, Here's more as asked... Getting the riders tunic to be similar to the original figure sitting in the back with those foliage fasteners and then carving out to fit the Schmeisser...straps yet to be added. The rider had his musset bag attached with a tiny wire holding it in...
