I should've explained the construction of the nose: as you can see from step 17 there's a 'false' nose cone that fits onto the cockpit front bulkhead, then forward fuselage halves fit onto that false nose and the cockpit. Very convenient place for some nose weight - Airfix recommend 40 g, but I...- stillp
