    AMT Shelby Mustang GT-350

Great choice, I'll pull up a chair for this.

    Tamiya Fireblade

It's the kind of thing that could only happen to me Tim 😂 I've got a few on successfully now, plenty more to go

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks for the suggestions gents. I seem to have found a workaround, similar to what you mention Jim. I pricked the back of the paper with a blade multiple times, and also scraped it. That batch soaked up the water straight away and the decals were sliding after 30 seconds or so. Fingers...

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you like it. I've started on the decals but I'm having a pretty big issue that I've not come across before. They are Cartograph, so not the typical thick Tamiya ones, but they don't want to come away from the backing paper, no matter how long I soak them. The ones...

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks again guys. It's definitely not something to rush. Progress is positively glacial by my usual standards, but better for it I feel.

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Cheers Tim, I'll watch out for the decals. Funny you should mention polishing the seat. I've done that with the Fireblade and quite like the look. I keep going back to it but I'm not sure I could improve on that tbh.

This is starting to come together now and is pretty much in streetfighter mode 😁 Time to crack on with the graphics on its party dress.

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

An old kit (1982 mould) of an even older bike. The nearest I could get to the 1/1 scale that I'm working on for a customer. Replenishing some paint & masking supplies And I'm finally replacing my Mr Metal Color range. Whilst they are fantastic paints they have no durability at all...

    U.S.Icons Group Build - Do’s and Don’ts

US icons you say? I'm sure this fits that bill. Especially with a bit of customising thrown in 🙂

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Neil. It's definitely something new for me. A bit like a model car build but even more involved & detailed.

    Italeri Fairchild Thunderbolt A-10C ‘Blacksnakes'

Tamiya acrylics and levelling thinner normally go together perfectly. Maybe it wasn't thinned enough as you say. I'd start at least 50/50, maybe adding a touch more thinners if it still doesn't spray nicely.

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks guys. I've done a bit more today and finally got all of the airbrush work done (except final clearcoat) The rear wheel was assembled and fitted to the swinging arm, which was in turn connected to the frame, plumbing in various brake pipes as I went. I also cut some 0.4mm wide strips of...

"Come on Big D, fly" The Hunt for Red October.

Very nicely done Jim, the water is amazing!

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Steven, I've had my full arsenal out. Spray booth is getting pretty full of colours! I made a start on the bodywork. Mr Primer Surfacer, GX1 gloss white, Mr Color C151 white pearl, followed by a quick coat of their new GGX gloss. Most will be getting decals then more gloss, some will...

Casting epoxy resin, any good? how to get rid of bubbles?

Apparently not Pete. With height the stream of resin becomes thin, meaning the bubbles are more likely to pop than if they are inside a thick "glug" It's not something I've tried myself, just one of a few suggestions I saw while trying to combat the problem.

Casting epoxy resin, any good? how to get rid of bubbles?

A few of us have used it, and bubbles do tend to be an issue. Playing a flame over the surface will pop the ones at the top, just don't set the foliage on fire like John Race did 😂 Very gentle stirring, letting the resin settle and pouring from height are all suggestions for reducing bubbles...

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Bob. You've got me John. I just scaled my workbench up to 100ft long and squeezed a real bike in 😂
