Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Tim, and cheers Steve, I must have done something right lol

I've been assembling the swinging arm this morning. A bit like hearding cats with fiddly levers & arms attached by 1.2x2.4mm screws 😂

This is my first bike but I think I ought to be jumping forward to start on the bodywork soon, as you would with a car. That'll give each stage time to dry while putting the rest of it together.

Thanks Steven, I've had my full arsenal out. Spray booth is getting pretty full of colours!

I made a start on the bodywork. Mr Primer Surfacer, GX1 gloss white, Mr Color C151 white pearl, followed by a quick coat of their new GGX gloss.

Most will be getting decals then more gloss, some will be masked before adding some cobalt blue.

Then I've started organising the many black parts into respective piles. This has been made harder by Tamiya listing paint call outs in a mixture of TS sprays, LP lacquer, and XF acrylics, all for the same flat/Matt or semi gloss blacks.

My choice will be SMS premium lacquers. Camo Black for matt, and Chassis Black for satin/semi gloss.

On the back of this I've already ordered another bike kit. This time a classic with lots of chrome 😎

Looks great Andy. I’ve only used to TS colours a couple of times, and I tend to decant them for airbrush use, dilute with MLT. Spray superbly though.

Thanks guys.

I've done a bit more today and finally got all of the airbrush work done (except final clearcoat)

The rear wheel was assembled and fitted to the swinging arm, which was in turn connected to the frame, plumbing in various brake pipes as I went.

I also cut some 0.4mm wide strips of chrome tape to replicate hose clips

The front end is going together too, just awaiting it's calipers and brake pipes

There were some gunmetal coloured decals to fit under the belly pan but they looked a bit fiddly so I sprayed them instead.

That is inspiring, I don’t do anything wheeled but looking at this I may be missing a trick. After my disastrous white gloss air-brush today. I’m well impressed with this. Maybe I need to try the same as you have here.

Thanks Neil. It's definitely something new for me. A bit like a model car build but even more involved & detailed.
