    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Tim, and cheers Steve, I must have done something right lol I've been assembling the swinging arm this morning. A bit like hearding cats with fiddly levers & arms attached by 1.2x2.4mm screws 😂 This is my first bike but I think I ought to be jumping forward to start on the bodywork...

    Tamiya Fireblade

I've had a go at heat staining on the exhaust system. Pretty happy for a first attempt

Dragon to no longer make Model Kits?

I wonder if they are moving more into the print-at-home market 🤔

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Paul & John. Im very much in my element and having fun with this. As Bob said earlier, it's addictive.

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks Tim, I'm really enjoying it so far. Lots of detail painting to come too - I realise I haven't painted the rubber seals at the base of the forks yet, us there's dozens of tiny bolts around the bike to touch up in silver! Cheers Peter. Thankfully it isn't chromed, just moulded in silvery...

    Tamiya Fireblade

I agree Jim, and the silver/grey plastic isn't nice to work with. It's really hard to see if you've cleaned it up properly until the primer is on, due to the variation in colour through the piece.

    Tamiya Fireblade

Intricate little beasts these bikes 😂 After spraying many spoons to check the colours I have the front & rear suspension together. Lots of different silvers were used, although the camera seems to smudge them into one I've also assembled the exhaust system and given it a basecoat of chrome...

    Toyota 86 pretty derby

I might wake up in a cold sweat thinking about those decals! Great job wrestling them into shape.

    Tamiya Fireblade

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments chaps. Not too much to show but the engine & rear mudguard are now fitted into the frame I've painted up the rear spring and the paddock stand. So far it's been around 90% painting, 10% construction. They are my kind of numbers 😁 Of course I...

    Tamiya Fireblade

So here goes. I've never attempted a bike kit before but I can already see why some of you guys like them so much. The detail & fit has been superb so far, I'll try my best not to stuff it up 😂 I'm not much of a bike person really, even though I paint loads of them, so just picked something I...

    Advice from aircraft builders needed.

I use the same method as Steven.

    3d printed Monocycle Speeder

Thanks Jim. The printing is pretty straightforward really, I don't know why I held off for so long! Thanks Neil. It's easier once the item is in your hand to be fair. The contact points are so small that you can generally break them with a finger, or simply "peel" the supports away.

    3d printed Monocycle Speeder

Here's a quick one that I printed on Friday after work, then painted and placed on a small base. The design was a free download and it used less than £2 worth of resin.

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

He was mortified John but at the end of the day there was no lasting harm done, just a few messy minutes cleaning up, so it was all good. It's a learning process for both of us and after a few quick pointers he's having much more success. On that note, if anyone decides to get into resin...

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Some pics after that long post 😁 Looking for something to paint I came across an interesting, free file on Cults3d, a huge library of widely different subjects, some free, some paid for. After downloading the file and running it through the Elegoo SatelLite slicing software, I printed it out...

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Once again I apologise for being a bit slack here. I had all sorts planned for this blog but if I'm brutally honest I'd rather be modelling than composing posts. I'll get there eventually lol I'm getting into a good routine with the prints, when I can schedule a time that Thomas isn't using...

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Super quick delivery from the shop. A couple of paint refills, tiny sanding sticks, a different liquid mask to try and some small cups for custom paint mixes. Oh, and my first motorcycle kit. Should be interesting

I'll be watching. I was so close to choosing the same title!

    All done

Fantastic news John. My wife and I were amazed at how quickly her cancer was dealt with too. She was almost shell-shocked afterwards, as though it had all been a (terrible) dream.

Stefee's Hasegawa 1/24 Datsun Sunny Pick up.

So sorry to hear that Stefan but the pick up has turned out great. I look forward to seeing more pics.
