    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Thanks John, a nice cuppa always helps the grey matter to function. ☕

How long to make a standard model??

I can't say that I've ever timed myself but as Joe says, it's very dependant on what I'm building. A little tamiya 1/48 armour kit could be knocked together in a couple of hours and probably painted in about the same if you really wanted to. Then there are those that take weeks or even months...

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

The physical process So what actually happens when you resin print something? Once again, I'm still an absolute beginner so maybe some of my comments will raise a chuckle from the seasoned amongst us, but I'm just trying to pass things on as I learn. Please do correct me if I'm completely...

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Thanks John, there's a learning curve but it isn't too steep thankfully. Peter - yes, by the time I get comfortable with it there'll probably be a new model coming out 😂 I've tried to future proof a bit in that the post processing machines are much larger than is needed for the printer. If I...

    Neils Eduard 1/72 Spitfire F Mk.IX

I seem to have completely missed this one Neil. It's coming along great and I love the colour scheme.

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Thanks for joining me on my voyage of discovery chaps 😁 Remember I'm still an absolute beginner, fumbling my way around lol. A few successful prints are building my confidence though. I can't say the same for my son, Thomas, as he's had quite a few failures, but there are easily solvable...

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

So, my son and I have purchased a resin 3D printer and I'm going to document how we're getting along with it. I'm struggling to find the time to post if I'm honest but I'll make a start and add to it as and when I can. This is definitely not a how-to or tutorial as I'm a complete beginner...

    Bulldozer Komatsu G40, 1:48. Tamiya

Cracking job Peter. I agree, it's a lovely little kit and also lends itself well to a beaten up paint job as you're suggesting. It's a pity none of the pictures of my build here have survived the software shenanigans 😢 but I've kept the model as it's one of my favourites.

    1/35 TAMIYA StuG 1V

I'm in. Off to a good start John, and none of that million-part track malarkey to deal with.

Would a military bulldozer come under armoured or soft skin?

When I built this a few years ago I put it in the soft skin section.

1/16 figure - Air Transport Auxiliary pilot

I agree. I'd be very happy to have produced either but the one on the right looks more natural.

    You can't park there mate!

Thanks gents. Much better pictures on their home site Tim! To be honest I've ordered some from ebay in desperation, to see if I could modify them. If that doesn't look possible once they arrive I'll go for one of the AB sets. Thanks again everyone for all of your suggestions. I'll pause this...

Thanks Paul. Seems like I wasn't looking in the right places!

Dspiae Orbit mini Drill/ Screwdriver (cordless USB)

That's a better idea then their grinder tool. Being able to fit the much more widespread 1/8" size bits (3.175mm ) should make it more adaptable.

    You can't park there mate!

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it so far. Brilliant Tim, just what I'm after I think. I'll have a better look later on a larger screen but they might be just the ticket, thanks.

    Kaleido part 2 brush painting

Thanks for that Bob, they look quite usable with a brush as well, especially if you managed 2 coats. That's the issue with lacquer I find, they are so "hot" that any attempt at a second coat just seems to wipe away the first!

    Kaleido paint review using airbrush

Good to hear that they live up to the hype so far Bob. I've seen a fair few car modellers trying them out and I can see why with that kind of finish from a less toxic paint.
