    What's on the Bench 2025

Whilst the seemingly never ending ritual of filling and sanding on the Sea King build continues I started Revells 1/25 Shelby Cobra 289. During the 90s I built 5 fibreglass replica kit cars for a customer, 2 x 289s and 3 x 427s, using Jaguar XJ6 suspension front and rear and, sacrilegiously...

    Italeri 1/24 Porsche 944S.

A decent kit despite its age and it being Italeri which have caused me serious problems in the past. Reasonable amount of detail for a kit with no stand alone engine. I added AM 3D printed "cookie cutter" wheels to match my 1:1 car, cut out sunroof opening and made the lift out panel and storage...

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Well I am calling this one done and am fairly pleased with the overall look. More pickiest in the completed section for anyone interested. Thanks for following and all the kind comments.

Flocking eventually arrived and applied, not too bad. Interior cemented in place and window glue now drying awaiting completion hopefully tomorrow.

Dragon 1/72 SH-3D "Helo 66" retrieving Apollo CM.

Interior received a very light dirtying up and everything in position although both pilots feet are nowhere near the pedals. Ballast hot glued into tail just in case. Now to join the 3 part fuselage - not looking forward to this.

    What's on the Bench 2025

The seat rivets are painted, everything varnished with satin clear and seat belts fitted (kit parts). Strange rules for 1966 Le Mans race mandated 2 seats to be fitted (passenger never used hence lap belt only), provision for 2 suitcases to be carried! and a spare wheel carried which had to be...

Dragon 1/72 SH-3D "Helo 66" retrieving Apollo CM.

As a first for me I have found that painting the seats , instrument panels and figures in 1/72 very difficult. Having only one fully functioning eye means my depth perception is totally out of whack so always put paint in the wrong place hence the somewhat amateurish attempts. All colours etc...

    What's on the Bench 2025

Whilst waiting for the flocking to arrive for the Porsche build and letting paint dry on the Apollo recovery chopper interior I decided to look at the seats from the Magnifier/Trumpeter Ford GT40 kit. To be charitable they looked like seats but were wrong. This car had a tubular frame with the...

Dragon 1/72 SH-3D "Helo 66" retrieving Apollo CM.

A little more progress. Drilled hole and epoxyed a support tube (end of a biro) in the rear of the fuselage conveniently hidden by a bulkhead and placed support rod in seascape, looks OK and strong enough however would you wingy thing experts out there advise me putting some liquid gravity in...

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Some more done to my baby. 3D printed "cookie cutter" alloys painted, decalled and fitted along with tiny valves and the brake discs and calipers. Virtually finished the interior by detail painting, satin clear coating and adding seat belt buckles to the front seats (no belts fitted in the rear...

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Engine bay done, no extras here just the kit parts plus some generic decals. The milk chocolate and caramel ripple interior eventually masked and painted. Still lots of fettling to do and satin clearcoat. Will be flocking the carpeted areas and adding seat belts but they are both Fathers Day...

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Some progress. Undercarriage completed and black around window frames done. Was not happy with my attempted striped seat decals so experimented with masking and painting and am much happier. Thanks for looking.

Steve's 1:48 Revell Apollo 11 "Eagle" lunar lander

Really looking forward to your build but strangely I built the Revell 1/48 50th Anniversary kit (03701) which has the deflectors and mountings but no base or figures - hope you don't mind me posting a picture of it in your thread so you can see. I also have the documents showing the different...

Cheap and effective addition to your supplies?

Hi all, Whilst watching a YT video of a car build I saw the builder use these as exhaust tailpipe embellished and thought they looked much more effective than the kit parts. They are uninsulated wiring ferrules made of copper with a tin plating and gently flared at one end. I bought a kit off...

Dragon 1/72 SH-3D "Helo 66" retrieving Apollo CM.

Not used to working in such a scale with loads of tiny parts. A bit of progress made, mostly dry fitted. No decals for the instruments so have to come up with a plan.

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Just finished painting the bodywork, some minor dirt inclusions to polish out after 10 days to fully cure.

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Whilst eradicating mould lines, flash etc on the body I noticed there was provision in the clear parts for a sunroof which my car had. This took the form of being completely removable and stoed in a bag in the boot - will try to replicate that later. So 60 nerve racking minutes later I have this.

    Stefees Italieri 1/24 Porsche 944S

Hi all, Will be starting this soon. I know this vehicle intimately as it was the first car I bought for myself when I returned to the UK in 2000, wish I still had it. One of the attached photos has images of my car. Bought AM resin AM "cookie cutter" alloys to match my car and tyre valves. The...

Dragon 1/72 SH-3D "Helo 66" retrieving Apollo CM.

Hi all, Not sure if this is in the correct section as it includes a space craft and a diorama - mods please move as you see fit. Just started this build and it's taking me way out of my comfort zone of building cars. Hope you think a build log will be of interest. Will be depicting the recovery...
