    Pete's Garden Room

This is my next build - added it to the magic wand shop order to get a discount. The pre-cut parts aren't plywood like the last ones I built, but more like MDF so a bit soft. time will tell if that matters. Pete

Boatmans 1/200 scale USS HORNET CV8 BUILD AN LIGHTS for the Doolittle raid on japan

Very nice Chris. Before I saw the photos I was thinking you were going to put the ship upside-down! Pete

    New hobby started

Interesting population. When I was a little kid in the early '50s my Dad had a neon tetra which people came from miles around to see! They were rare and expensive in those days, no-one was breeding them so they had to be caught in the wild, and the airlines didn't know how to handle them so most...

    Pete's Villa

Well it didn't keep me busy for long: As Joe said, a lot of fun for £10. As expected, there are 3 settings for the lights - cool white, warm white and an even warmer white, which is the setting in the photos - I didn't photograph the other settings as I don't think they'd look any different...

Scale indicator, which way is correct? eg: / or :

Just to start another discussion; in IEC and ISO standards, the decimal separator is not a point but is a comma... Pete

Scale indicator, which way is correct? eg: / or :

Well, you'd never build 1/72 of a Spitfire, but every dimension of the Airfix kit is 1/72 of the original. Both : and / are correct for a model.

    Pete's Villa

Another of these laser-cut plywood models, this one from a charity shop for a tenner: Much thinner plywood than the Rokr locomotive I built last, just a bit over 2mm thick. The laser cutting is very precise and there's a fair amount of detail. Managed this much yesterday: A full afternoon...

Scale indicator, which way is correct? eg: / or :

A colon indicates a ratio, a slash indicates a fraction. For a static comparison there's no difference. Pete

They stack better if all the same size. Pete

    Rembering Ron.

Finished now. It does run, on a smooth surface. Not the best model I've ever built but it kept me busy for a few days. The quality of the kit is very good, and they even provide a few spare parts for those that are likely to get broken: My next build will be this one, picked up in a charity...

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

They were plain varnished wood when I visited Portsmouth in 2011, but it's anybodies guess what colour they were at Trafalgar. Pete
