A slight change in plan ....... the remodelling will not be based in Balsa wood. I tried this and due to the close proximity of some of the cuts, the balsa kept slitting along it's grain. So ..... not to be beaten ..... well not that easily anyway ...... I cut the template out in Daler board...- toto

Been looking at the Cafe frontage. The resin print is not the best in my opinion . Soooooo ...... I've decided ..... i think ..... to remodel it in Balsa wood. I'm sure I could do it. .... we have the technology ..... 😂. The overall desgn will be similar but I may be able to add a little more...- toto

Vietnam Diorama - 1:35 - US troops/vehicles, etc
Looks very good. I'd say you have the density about right and the shorter grass and mud go well. The bigger plants as you say need dulling down and when done maybe a matt varnish to lock in your washes and flatten the finish. You work and achieve very quickly and are a pleasure to follow...- toto

Yes I was correct ..... the other way around choosing to leave the building with the resin part until last. so .... The buildings facade is planted ( note not in place, just in an angle easy to work with for now ). on with the first side applying PVA and clamping tight into position ...- toto

Went out to the shed to check on my plaster cast building that I glued together on Sunday before travelling north .... removed the clamps and supporting weights ....... and lifted it up its little pegging points ..... and all is well .... This one will likely be next .... Then this...- toto

Latest Acquisitions (2026)
Had a delivery waiting for me when I came home today ..... some mini grass tufts ...... and some not so mini grass tufts ..... and a quick comparison for scale purposes. Still awaiting some static grasses of varying sizes ..... possibly tomorrow. cheers toto -

Well i'm home again .... an early morning phone call to tell me that my mum had been rushed into hospital with a heart attack. So ..... down to hospital after the usual 6 hour drive home where she is stable and recovering quickly .... so much so ..... she may be home tomorrow. ..... relief. So...- toto

Plaster cast and card brick walls
So ..... I need some brick walls for my Pushing Back diorama and thought I'd do a seperate thread for this part rather than clog up the diorama thread itself. Its too flipping Hot!
I'm heading to Cyprus in about 7 weeks time. Currently hitting 30 odds and expected to rise into the low forties. They are putting out messages / warnings already ..... stay in the shade, keep hydrated, stay indoors in the mid afternoon heat, if you are going out ..... early morning is best... -

Its too flipping Hot!
Goth and steam punk ..... amazing including their sense of dress. .... just kicks it out there. I was considering a steam punk jacket / tunic to be designed to go with my tartan troos. Still thinking about it. As for the heat ..... i'm in scotland .... nothing to worry about although I am... -

Next up ...... I'm looking at what I think would have been a cafe. The area is light industrial set on the very edge of an industrial / residential area so a cafe .... is to me ..... believable .... not glued yet as I am still getting myself convinced of its exact position. Should it sit...- toto

So ...... I'm starting with one of the allies buildings / dig in points. and the above are the tools of my trade ...... Aliphatic glue and some modellers clamps ..... on with a good bead of glue ..... and on with the clamps .... and an engineers block or two for some stability whilst...- toto
