Pushing Back .......

So ...... I'm starting with one of the allies buildings / dig in points.

P1010904.webp

and the above are the tools of my trade ...... Aliphatic glue and some modellers clamps .....

P1010906.webp

on with a good bead of glue .....

P1010907.webp

and on with the clamps ....

P1010908.webp

and an engineers block or two for some stability whilst it dries. It won't be disturbed now until I get back home next weekend.

Onwards and upwards....

Next up ...... I'm looking at what I think would have been a cafe.

The area is light industrial set on the very edge of an industrial / residential area so a cafe .... is to me ..... believable ....

P1010909.webp

not glued yet as I am still getting myself convinced of its exact position.
Should it sit on the pavement or further back with a small area for what would have housed a couple of tables and chairs ????? to be decided ....

It looks like walls for me when I get back this weekend.

To be honest, I am absolutely gagging to get started on my buildings roof and floor section builds but shouldn't really be doing that until I have primed the building. The forces acting against me are strong .... but I shall show no weakness ..... 😂

I think its important to have the walls done first to help determine final proximity to the buildings and positioning of potental vehicles and artiliary pieces.

There will be a fair bit of trial and error, experimentation and probably some waste along the way but I think I have enough brick wall sections cast to at least get me started. I also have plenty card for the stucco layer, plaster for a grout slurry mix and some concrete lintels to be used as cappng stones.

Once I know which capping stone sizes that I need, I can cast more as I only really have a few of each available size at the moment. They are an easy cast to work with but only produce a couple of each type in any one casting ..... and I ain't buying more.

C'mon Friday ...... move your ass.

Well i'm home again .... an early morning phone call to tell me that my mum had been rushed into hospital with a heart attack.

So ..... down to hospital after the usual 6 hour drive home where she is stable and recovering quickly .... so much so ..... she may be home tomorrow. ..... relief.

So .... working from home or two days off depending on what the doctor says tomorrow after running more tests tonight.

I may just indulge in a little shed time tonight

Yes I was correct ..... the other way around choosing to leave the building with the resin part until last.

so ....

P1010918.webp

The buildings facade is planted ( note not in place, just in an angle easy to work with for now ).

P1010919.webp

on with the first side applying PVA and clamping tight into position .....

P1010920.webp

Then on goes the second ( internal ) wall and again ..... glued and clamped in place.

P1010921.webp

Glue wall three into position .....

P1010922.webp

and clamped up....

P1010923.webp

and one last image from the front this time .....

cheers for now

Been looking at the Cafe frontage. The resin print is not the best in my opinion . Soooooo ...... I've decided ..... i think ..... to remodel it in Balsa wood.

I'm sure I could do it. .... we have the technology ..... 😂.

The overall desgn will be similar but I may be able to add a little more detail. Especially around the windows and thebottom panels. It looks like they are meant to be portrayed in wood , so I could make it look like a srt of Dado panel effect. The Proxxon saw should make light work of cutting the various widths and sizes required ....... we'll see, I may be made to eat my words.

Thats for tonight.

P1010924.webp

Thankfully I have this to assist ....

so time to get started ..... back with some updates later on.

A slight change in plan ....... the remodelling will not be based in Balsa wood. I tried this and due to the close proximity of some of the cuts, the balsa kept slitting along it's grain.

So ..... not to be beaten ..... well not that easily anyway ...... I cut the template out in Daler board ... ( photography mounting card ) .... a bit like this ....

P1010927.webp

I made the staunchions between the windows and door about 1.5 mm thicker as I thought they were too thin anyway.

I have softwood strips and other materials that I can use to " build out " the frontage. I am absolutely making this up as I go along so it could be another abandoned project if it all goes belly up ..... but I have faith.

A slow start on this element but I'll hopefully build a little momentum as it progresses.

cheers
