Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks Jim. Always nice to have your feedback on my stuff. :thumb2: I've turned my attention back to the Pigeon 'ase. I marked and cut the thing in two. removed the centre section and the top bit up to the roof join. Then I stuck it all back together...... The present Mrs. Ron approves, so...

Fat chance! Update.... Apart from a bit of detailing, the roofing is almost finished. I'm sure that gunfire is getting closer....... Cheers. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Now no self respecting French dwelling would be without a Pigeonnier, so yesterday, I designed and built a simple structure and made it from foam board. I showed it to the Missus and she said "Sorry, it's too big!" ............and you know what? She is spot on! Now where is that...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

My knees are getting sore with all this slating, so for a bit of a diversion and to please my good buddy Rick...... Lilly pads!....and a bit of duckweed too. I painted the pads with a small Turk's Head brush dabbed on to the clear plastic waater. Just plonked loose on the base for now, so not...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Rick got me a'thunkin', so last night, I had a thunk and come up with this...... Made from a scrap strip of foam board. Suitable scribed and wrapped around part of a clear plastic food container lid and then painted with kiddies paints. Finally, I added the crud on the pond bottom using some...

    Ok other hobbies, erm?

No time to read books or sit about at home. Too busy wandering this wonderful country of ours in our camper looking for 'out of the way places'...and, boy have we found some! No other real hobbies either, but when the mood takes me, I do dabble in watercolours. Last November, my Daughter in...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

I've started to roof the roof.... Paper 'slates' and a bit of gash coloured card for the ridge tiles. The valley is made of paper strips. As I wrote earlier, I'm not fussed about nice straight, evenly spaced slate courses. I want a rough and ready rustic look. I'll straighten out the lower...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks fellas! All starting to make a bit of sense now - I hope! I've glued on the intermediate wall sections and fixed plain backs to the buildings...and stuck it all on to the 'Silly' base. The house will abut the gable in the space on the right of the stable block. Cheers all. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks for the nice posts, folks. :thumb2: Apart from some chimblee flashing and a bit more 'last job' weathering, the house is now completed. I didn't like the too rustic front doors, so I made some new ones out of plastic card. I've also made a start gluing together the...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Ian. Pity Miniart don't do 1/72. I'm sure they get enough 'Samples' from would be fortune hunters without this toe rag sending stuff. Dave. A Book?! I read out your post to the missus. "Fat chance, You can't even get a shopping list right!" was her encouraging reply. Apart from anything else...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks chaps. It's really nice to read such encouraging posts. :thumb2: Farmhouse glued together and windows fitted. I use thin plastic card for the windows. Marked out with a pencil and carefully cut out using a N0 11 scalpel blade. I 'glazed' them with bit of see through plastic food...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

All safely gathered in and ready to be stuck together. Bit out of sync. as the mill is stuck together....Sorry. :upside: I've made 8 internal cross walls to support any roof bits. I'll slot these in where required, once I start on any exposed roof members..... Cheers. Ron

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks for the encouraging posts chaps. :thumb2: Windows to go in then the house is ready for gluing together. I've decided an ornamental courtyard would be fun to have a go at. Totally overboard and wacky, with no attempt at neatness. I just had me some fun. It'll probably all be covered...

Une Ferme Abandonnee.....and some squatters! Normandy, July 1944

Thanks chaps. 453. The good thing about 1/72 is I can get away with murder where detail is concerned. Whereas you doing 1/35 have to include a darn sight more! So a 'Tip of the Hat' to you good buddy. :thumb2: Ian. It ain't easy, but because I don't get bogged down with all the must have...
