    Airbrush newbie

I use a mix that I saw a while back on Youtube. Its 7 parts flow improver, 3 parts thinner and 1 part retarder, all Vallejo products. Then mix at 6 parts paint to 4 parts of the above mix, works a treat with Color Air also their primers and clear coats. For the thicker primers such as the Black...

    Trolleybus kits, advice sought.

I'll join the resurrection thread and say that i've never had much luck sourcing a Trolleybus model. Been to Sandtoft and also the East Anglian Transport Museum which has a nice collection of Trolleybuses. Neither had a buildable decent sized model for sale, I took plenty of photos in case one...

My wife bought me these for Christmas, used them a lot since then, they were labelled as Helping Hands. Great for holding parts to glue and paint, magnetic bases stick well to the tin and they bend into whatever shape you need. They came from Amazon and were listed as soldering aids, so much...

Meng 1/35 Whippet WW1 Light Tank

I have one of these "in waiting" so I shall be keeping an eye on your progress. One thing I noticed is that the angle of the exhaust tails are shown wrongly in the instructions and box art. The photos below i took earlier this year shows them pointing more upwards. Although the lighting was...

A rather nifty little holder for Tamiya Extra Thin, angled to make use that much easier Orientation can be changed when the contents have lessened Saved the best to last, the new much less stinky Low Odor(sic) Extra Thin and it really is noticeably less pungent.

Can't resist a bargain, so I bought a new Airbrush for fine detail work. Its a Procon Boy PS-270 with a 0.2mm needle, first try out was very positive indeed. I'm convinced its an Iwata by another name, many of the parts are identical in size and quality too. Perhaps its an opportune time to...

A new pair of Glasses, on the face of it 😁 not a very exciting acquisition. I wear varifocals and apart from some minor distortion get on very well with them for everyday use. One problem though is that model making (amongst other things) is mainly at a middle distance This is neither a reading...

Needed some new scissors for Decals and general stuff so I went for these Sharp with the added bonus of being non stick, tape adhesive residue is a right nuisance. Hoping these will mean no more cleaning the blades off with solvent.

Tamiya Extra Thin Low Odor (sic)

Saw this the other day and put in a pre order to try it out https://www.tamiya.com/english/products/87236/index.html For those like me who have a bad reaction to the usual fumes it could be a real bonus.

    New nippers

These are my Lindstrom cutters I got on starting in 1975 as an apprentice with the then Post Office Telecommunications. Still using them although not for sprue cutting or telephone cable, retired after nearly 40 years from doing the latter. I still have a pair of their flat end long nose pliers...

    Airfix 1/35 Stalwart

Sort of vehicle I like to build and saw that Airfix recently released a new kit in 1/35 Looked for reviews on Youtube and it's getting a real trashing for overall quality Just wondered if anyone here has one and if so, is it really that bad? Thanks Rich

    GSW Brush Rinser

Just bought this Brush Rinser and made a quick video about it. Very handy little gadget, much nicer than the usual jam jar full of mucky water. Not only nice to rinse your brushes in clean water, but also takes away the knocking it over hazard. Basically fill the pot with water, attach it to...

    What music whilst you model?

Just wondered what others use to listen on and what they play whilst modelling. My set up is a Topping E30 DAC, Kanto YU6 active speakers and a Yamaha powered Sub. MP3's stored on my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S, too slow for much else these days. Music is mainly rock so AC/DC, GnR, Bad Co, Black...

Bought another Airbrush and Compressor, both used and just in need of tidying up a bit Time for a sale I reckon, I've now got three iwata compressors and the same number of Eclipse Airbrushes. Enjoy checking them over and cleaning them up, but that's it for now, honest it is.
