Scale Model Shop

Trolleybus kits, advice sought.

Thread owner
Thanks Dave and Tim,
I should have posted before, managed to find plastic kits of the Trolleybus made and sold by the Czech company SDV model. They offer four Skoda TBus models in 1:87 HO scale and have an ebay seller based in Germany.

Apologies for not posting earlier

No probs Tony. Glad you’ve sorted it out. Don’t forget to post the builds . I’m sure the chaps will be interested.

Picking up on an old thread here.

Have you tried contacting the Model Bus Federation ?
Probably best source for trolley bus info.

I'll join the resurrection thread and say that i've never had much luck sourcing a Trolleybus model.
Been to Sandtoft and also the East Anglian Transport Museum which has a nice collection of Trolleybuses.
Neither had a buildable decent sized model for sale, I took plenty of photos in case one ever does appear..

This subject is especially poignant for me because my late Dad drove Trolleybuses for LT in East London.
Mainly on routes 669, 685, 687 and 699 which terminated up in the old docklands area.
Something like this would make a very nice kit, fingers crossed it happens one day.

Leyton. What a coincidence.
My late dad used to drive Trolley Buses in Reading.
Back in the sixties the Reading Trolley Buses were taken out of service. Many towns were doing the same and a group of enthusiasts in Reading were obtaining buses from different systems, so for a while there were a number of different buses stored. I can remember on the last day the system ran all those other town's buses ran for the last time on full routes around Reading. All those buses found their way up to Sandtoft in the 70's I believe.
I got in contact with an ex Reading Trolley driver who was part of that enthusiast group in Reading who was involved with setting up Sandtoft and happened to remember my dad. In 1994. He invited me to visit Sandtoft before it became open to the public. It was very nostalgic as there were four Reading Trolley Buses there, and as my dad drove them for years he probably drove all of them when in service at some time or other, and as a school kid and going on in to my teens used the system frequently, so I probably got to ride in each of those buses while they were in service way back.

A trolley bus kit would be really good in 1/24th scale like Revell's Routemaster.
