How many models do you build at once?

Hi guys. Forgot to post another poll yesterday, so kicking this off today. Again, no wrong answers, and just a bit of fun ;)

    Latest Acquisitions (2021)

Not a purchase, but a gift from my sister. My late brother in law used to love his model railways , and had lots of stuff for scenics. I will smile, and remember him with happiness when using these...

    Bovington Tank Museum

Lots of reference pics of various tanks etc. I've tried as often as possible to grab the "info", then the vehicle itself. Day 1 pictures (Friday 17th Septembet 2021) - here. Day 2 pictures (Saturday 18th September 2021 - here. Day 2 pics start with a few snaps of weathered vehicles I found in...

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

Quick update, as the figures are blocked out now. Need to do the details, and the lighting makes them look shinier than they are. The private will probably end up with a cricket bat in hand. This is turning out to be a rest break, and time for the officer to consult his map. I think I much...

Daimler Dingo (Tamiya. 1:35. 1972 kit)

Calling the vehicle and base finished now. I do have figures to add, and I'll probably repost in dioramas once completed. No major issues with the kit or build. Usual Tamiya quality, even for a kit near 50 years old. A few major omissions, such as the radio etc. Forgivable for a kit that age...

    Top 3 armour kits?

Hi all, Just wanted to ask what your "top 3" armour kits are? Whether they're ones you've already built, or are on your wishlist, I'd be interested to hear. There are no wrong answers, and I realise this is very subjective; just looking for friendly discussion and ideas. Cheers!

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

So apparently I'd forgotten a thing or two about how to paint these past thirty years - go figure! (pun intended). After a friendly reminder (thank you @Tim Marlow :)) I went back to my soldier. That's better. Bloomin' camera keeps focusing on my fingers though - probably just as well. Looks...

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

Update six hundred and seventy three (it feels like! - just kidding). I thought the vehicle was fairly well finished, and the base done, but after looking at the pics realised I need to weather the interior a bit. It looks far too clean. Edit - I've also just realised I've got to add the shovel...

    What's your favourite scale?

Exactly as it says on the tin. What's your favourite model scale? This probably relates closely to your favourite subject. Comments welcome!

    Weathering Challenge?

This is an interesting former gate guardian, now resting at Bovington, (awaiting restoration?). Despite the joke thread title I believe it a British Centurion? If anyone fancies a real weathering challenge, feel free to use these as a reference. Have fun!

Tankfest 2021 - Bovington Tank Museum, Dorset.

A fantastic event. So many well preserved and/or restored tanks from all eras. WWI, WWII, cold war and modern. You need a good few hours to see all the museum has to offer, and can spend a good deal more time here. Tankfest is a great display too with mock battles, lots of pyrotechnics and...

    Latest Acquisitions (2021)

So a few more treats this week. First pic from Bovington, second from the Fenland and Spalding show. I mean, what kind of modeller would I be if I visit the home of the tank, and don't buy a kit!? :smiling3:

    Tankfest 2021

Just returned from two days at Bovington at Tankfest 2021. An awesome museum and a great event. Nothing compares to an 80 odd ton monster in real life! I got lots of photos of all (I think!?) the tanks on display, both in the museum and in the shed awaiting rrestoration. Also got some nice pics...

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

OK, next bit for the Dingo. Coming together now. Bits for the base: I mixed about two dessert spoons of plaster with the same amount of bird sand, added a spoon of paint, and a good squeeze of PVA. The mixture got spooned into the back of a 6'x4'picture frame: I added a signpost. made from a...

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

A brief aside - sandbags. Read this tip on here somewhere, whoever it was - thank you! Had a go at making some scale sandbags from green stuff and micropore. Real sandbags are 14" by 26", so scale to 9mm x 16mm. 1.5cm micropore tape is close enough. I had no glass sheet so used my bathroom...

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

A week off work, so finally got around to painting a soldier. I am very out of practise! Anyway, here he is... Couple more to do, then onto the base! Edit - looking at him again, he may benefit from a pinwash too? Advice anyone? Cheers.

    Tamiya - Daimler Dingo MkII - 1/35 (1972)

Oops. Realised after posting I'd lost all the pin wash detail. More artistic than realistic, but I really like the way it makes the model pop. So it was out with the "engine grime" again: There, that's better.
