    Russian T-55A

2nd go at a tank, kit was very difficult (MinArt) but a gift so rude not to have a go! Experiments with tracks still ongoing but as you all (rightly) say, practice! still learning! Cheers, Del

    Scratchbuild.

Another query! I've been given a T-55A tank to build. Its by Miniart and clearly not an easy build for me (especially my eyesight and Shakey hands!!) It's got so many sprues I'm amazed...not for the feint hearted!! however, it has a tow line that requires me to scratchbuild...the two towing...

    Sherman 'Fury'

First attempt! Loved trying various weathering techniques...all taken from forum members...upwards and onwards! Del

    First attempt at weathering.

Nothing spectacular, just playing around with ideas... salt. Applied water mist then various salt crystals to build, dried and this is what I'm left with, chipped rusted look? I'm totally green to this so please be gentle!! Ignore paint colour, just experimenting with various outcomes! Oh...

    Airbrushing Varnish.

I've done a search but no joy so... I have VMS Gloss varnish HD. It can be airbrushed direct from the bottle but the coverage I'm getting is way too patchy and I feel the airbrush is struggling as the spray is nothing like paint. VMS state thinning is not required so my thinking is needle...

    A little help..

ADMIN (could you delete replica posts, my bad) Hello guys, Having inherited a compressor and airbrushes it soon transpired that they are quite old, but in good condition except for the hose. On closer inspection I inspected the hose and could see small cracks on the hose, looked a bit brittle...

    Acrylic/Enamel

Hello chaps, I've purchased an airbrush and was having a play with it, I initially tried Acrylic mixed with water, about 50/50, and it was awful, runny, excessive and went through a pot of paint in about 2 mins!! I do have acrylic thinners on route via SMS, and I have read that water doesn't...

    I've aquired an airbrush.

I was chatting to a family member on group chat and was talking modelling as I've just started again when the subject of painting was touched upon...I mentioned that I only had brushes but was hopeful to invest in an airbrush soon... Out of the blue my mother piped up, "I've got two, you can...

    Another question!

Again, I couldn't find anything on search...so.. I'm sure I will eventually collate a nice collection of paints, however, seeing as I need to order paint is there anyway of knowing what paint a model requires prior to getting it? At present, I get the kit then I have a 4-5 day wait for...

    Decals.

I promise, I really DO search the site for the answers but this one chucks up various solutions... My intention was to apply decals to a Matt enamel finish. I saw a VMS decal 2in1 solution that showed applying solution to decal location, apply decal, soften down with earbud or similar then...

Gaining access to a cemented part.

Hi Gents (and ladies?) I'm currently halfway through a Stuka, whilst completing the cockpit I noticed the rear gunner had a nice line of ammo magazines to his left on a kind of stack. The contact point for cementing each mag was minimal to say the least!! Anyway, being a newbie I put it into...

    Starting off.

As promised!! I've been perusing the store with a view to purchase some essentials.. I started with brushes then sandpaper at this point I couldn't work out what the grit of the paper was...40 yrs ago I recall finishing off with something around a 600grit? Anyway, I digress...in a nutshell if...

    Gobsmacked.

I've been spending the day looking through completed projects and I am so impressed! Clearly my level is woefully short, but I'm an optimist and some of the tips on here are so helpful. I've a 1:48 Stuka winking at me at present, however I've now ordered some bits from the SMS, and I'm...
