    Sculpting for work

Some of you know that I'm an architectural modelmaker. I've been doing a job recently that I don't get much of these days due to 3D printers. I used to do this more often but its usually easier to print them these days. We have a model with complex sculptures and we're makeing 3 copies of the...

    Cheap and Easy Weeds

I've been looking at quick and easy ways of creating plant leaves. I came up with the idea of using the discs created with a paper hole punch. I lightly tacked them onto a spray stick with double-sided tape and speckled them green. I used celulose paint here at work, which dries quickly. I...

    Mike Butler's Painting

Mike Butler (known as Mike the Kiwi) is painting this Tommy's War figure that I converted for one of my trench sections. This figure is 54mm!!!! He even has hairy arms! He's still work in progress. Mike's work is astounding! I'll post some more photos of the equipment that I scratch-built for...

    My new website with tutorials.

I've just published a website using Wix. All new to me! (but it wasn't rocket science.) You Can find it here.... https://andybelseymodels.wixsite.com/mysite On it are tutorials which cover a lot of things that were so popular on the other site that we don't mention any more! Andy B

    Sculpting by Carving

I had this tutorial on the other site, which can't be mentioned. Hopefully it will inspire some of you to have a go at carving. Most sculpting is done with the vast array of putties that we have these days, but you can also create by carving away material as the Old Masters did. Here's a brief...

    1:700 WW1 Destroyers

These are two destroyers that my Great Uncle served on during the Great War. He died on board Redgauntlet in October 1918 of Spanish Flu. (The flu epidemic killed more than the war did!) I scratchbuilt them from polyurethane with custom drawn etchings. The figures are only a couple of mm's tall...

I have 10 sections on the go at the moment but have only completed 4 so far. The grey figures will get paint eventually.

    Somme Trenches in 1:285 scale

Time is rather short presently so I haven't been able to post much, but here are a few photos of my trench model. It has an acrylic lid with labels explaining what is underneath. It's all scratchbuilt except for the figures which are made by GHQ (really WW2).

    Micro work

Hi I'm Andy (one of the MM refugees). This is one of my dioramas. It's scratchbuilt and is 1:285 scale. I did this without magnification, but then got older!

    Yet another MilModian refugee.

Hi I’m Andy and was blogging on Military Modelling for 5 years. I’m well known for miniature work and WW1 models. I’ll post some photos when I learn how to. You will find that I have an international internet presence, so Google my name and you’ll find lots of my work on the net. I am rather...
